I can't stand Stephen, Tyson or Coach. They can all go as far as I'm concerned. I get that Stephen is playing a good game, but he bores me or something. Blah.

I love JT, even though I'm not sure he made the best move last night. We'll see.

And I can't believe how much weight Taj has lost. It's crazy.

srmom 04-17-2009 02:57 PM

What do y'all think of the pygmie kidnapping/near death experience in the Amazon story that Coach told!! How about at tribal where he told Jeff something about them wanting to eat his butt??? What???

I think the guy is a pathological liar!! As he went on and on about the national geographic people wanting to go with him and he told them, "No. This trip is about me." I nearly choked on my Chardonney! Then Brandon asked him how he paid for the helicopter drop in the Amazon, and he said he just asked. Yeah, right! What a tool!

I cannot stand him, but I kind of don't want him to get voted off for a while so I can hear more of his complete and utter BS! It will be a thing of beauty when he finally gets the boot. His face when they lost the reward challenge was wonderful - pure baby whining!! When he gets voted off, he is for sure going to blow a fuse. AND, his jury appearance will be comic gold, Dragon Slayer that he is!! hahahahahaha

I about died listening to his story. He had a military connection that just happened to let him use a helicopter. Talk about delusional...

SydneyK 04-17-2009 04:02 PM

I didn't get to watch last night, so I'm assuming that Coach is still around. I'll have to watch online or something to see what I missed!

srmom 04-17-2009 05:07 PM

Thanks Jen, I laughed out loud at that!

Some gems from Coach:

Brendan: "How'd you afford a military chopper?"
Coach: "That I got for free."
Brendan: "How'd you do that?"
Coach: "I pulled some strings."

Coach: "Be the wizard, Stephen, be the wizard."

And Best of ALL:

Coach: "If you do a Google search you won't find it; it's only passed down verbally."

The guy is comic genius (except for the genius part ;))

AGDee 04-17-2009 09:59 PM

I can't believe that Taj chose Stephen as the guy to trust. She obviously screwed up there. I know they like to blindside us, but I'd like to see more of the discussions about who is getting voted off. I've been watching long enough to know it wouldn't be Coach since it was edited to look like it was going to be Coach but I really wasn't sure if it would be Sierra or Brandon. A threeway tie would have been awesome.

I'm beginning to think that they will all want to take Coach to the finals because they know nobody would vote for him? Just a thought.

That was just hysterical.

Yeah, but I kept hoping. I'll have to pull for Stephen or JT now.

That is classic. I especially love the one quote:

Brendan: "We're throwing underhand breaking tiles and none of us have ever done this before"
Coach: "I have"

That line pissed me off more than anything! Are you serious? Now you're just making stuff up, Coach. To be honest, I see him as being similar to a Randy from last season. I think he'll stay around for a little while, but I see a major blindside coming eventually.

And I think that Stephen gets away with switching sides so often because he seems like the weak, clueless guy who just goes along with everything everyone says. His plots and schemes aren't advertised around camp. He only says these things to the cameras one-on-one. I don't think anyone sees him as a threat right now (especially because he's not winning every challenge, and it took him 2 hours to build a fire). For now, he's seen as an extra vote one way or the other.

The line is funny because he pretends he HAS done everything, but it actually works against him, basically proving that he'll say anything for attention.

Exactly. If I were there with them, I'd start making up stories of my own, just to see how Coach reacted to them. I'd try to one-up everything he said. When he told his story of kayaking through the Amazon, and being captured by the natives, I'd make up an equally outlandish story just to see what he says.

I don't know what chapter Deb is from, but I'd love for her to just come out with "I survived rush and pledging in the 80s (70s?) at XYZ (hopefully a ridiculously competitive) University" next time he starts on stories.

She's from Eastern Illinois University. She could always say Auburn though :)

a.e.B.O.T. 04-20-2009 02:33 AM

Coach is a Dick... capital D, truly, there are others with arrogance, but his really takes the cake in his self-loving... good tv? maybe, but im ready to vomit and tired of it...

SydneyK 04-20-2009 10:34 AM

I finally had a chance to watch last night (and thanks for the link to Jeff's blog, Jen). Wow. Coach is something else, isn't he?!? Can you imagine how badly his business is being affected by all this pathological lying? There's no way I'd send my kids to play soccer for him (that is what he coaches, right?)! The guy is certifiably crazy!

He was head women's soccer coach at Southwest Baptist University. I say "was" because they fired him because he didn't tell them he was going to be on Survivor -- he left mid-season and told them he'd be gone for a week.

He doesn't seem to mind, though, since he's going to be the next big thing on TV.

BTW, anyone watch Brendan's post-TC interviews from Ponderosa? He seems as normal as Coach seems insane.

AGDee 04-20-2009 03:26 PM

Yeah, Brendan does seem pretty normal. I liked those interviews. I loved the idea of the Exile Island alliance and I think Stephen was totally stupid for ditching it.

We'll start calling you Jim Halpern ;)

Oh, he'd just tell some ridiculous hazing stories from his college days, like having to put a pumpkin head on that someone had thrown up in. (see hazing thread)

He probably thought he would only last a week.:p I don't really think he suffers from delusions of grandeur, because I'm pretty sure that he's fully aware of the BS that's coming out of his mouth, and is probably inwardly shocked that people have bought it this long (or at least not called him on it), and not sent him packing.

I think you're giving him too much credit.
I think he fully expects to win this thing... you know, being the dragon-slayer and all.

LOL. I had exactly the same thought watching this last episode.

Your husband is a wise man.

Hopefully! But, this is a strange group. Who knows what they'll do?

SydneyK 04-24-2009 11:19 AM

Last night's episode was great. Sierra's face was priceless when Jeff was reading the votes. And I especially loved Tyson's exit interview! ("Sneaky bastards, now I know how Brendan felt.") It'll be interesting to see what happens next.

srmom 04-24-2009 03:06 PM

We loved last night's episode!! We rewatched the tribal council numbers of times just to see the faces!

Tyson's face going from smug to "oh crap" after 2 votes were cast for him.

Debbie's face going from smug to "traitors!!" when she looked back at Coach!

Sierra's face from complete sadness, to confusion, to triumph!!

Brendon's face from stoic to "Hip Hip Hooray!" and the thumbs up was awesome.

The Jalapeno trio, sitting quiet like the little sneaks they are, then the sly smiles as it all goes down.

And, finaly, the Dragonslayer himself, from SMUG Leader (he had to throw it in that he was a better leader ;)) to SHOCK!!

haha I loved it!!

And, how funny was Jeff Probst tonight in goading the Dragonslayer??? It's obvious he finds the guy to be a complete idiot!

ASTalumna06 04-24-2009 03:15 PM

I'm curious to see if this all comes back on Sierra. I assume Coach will accuse her of turning people and making them vote for Tyson, when in reality, no one seemed to even want Sierra to know what was going on, and Sierra only voted for Tyson because they butted heads.

And I find it amusing that Coach and Tyson were so ready to vote out Sierra. Was she annoying them? Apparently. Is she a huge threat? Not at all. Why not keep her around for a little while and try to take out the two people who seem to be running the game... James and Stephen.

SWTXBelle 04-24-2009 03:29 PM

Okay, here's the deal - if Coach goes, who will be such an able object of derision and scorn? He's the BEST at being the WORST - so although I don't want him in the final 3, I'm kinda glad he's still there.

srmom 04-24-2009 03:48 PM

Yeah, I hope he sticks around for a while too, he is comedy gold!! His ridiculous tai chi moves (that have been passed down verbally throughout the ages), his stupid stories, etc. It would be a more boring season without him.

I want to see him try his jedi mind stuff on people and be thwarted at every turn, and get booted before the final 3.

Besides, I bet the folks over at Ponderosa don't want to see him any time too soon!

a.e.B.O.T. 04-24-2009 04:36 PM

It seems by the preview that Coach is not going to cast in all on Sierra, but try to get Sierra and Erin back... He is probably fuming at JT for breaking his "word"... i plan to hear a honor and integrity, and "now its on" speech from Coach...

If the girls were SMART... they would all gang up together, because it seems like all boys have aligned themselves to win over any female, and the girls a) out number and b) can use one side (stephen and jt) to get rid of the other (coach) or visa versa...

Agreed. Unfortunatly it appears that they can all be idiots when it comes to that kind of game plan.

I love Debbie, but all of her "my alliance" BS last week was so stupid. She and brown haired girl (don't remember her name) are like twigs. And so is Sierra. Do they really think they have a chance against the guys in physical competition?

ASTalumna06 04-26-2009 02:12 PM

The only problem that I see with an all girls alliance... Taj. She's been riding Stephen and JT's coattails. They're stronger players who definitely have been running the game. I don't know if she'd turn away from them, knowing that they're not gunning for her at all.

Personally, I think that Stephen, JT and Taj should pull Sierra to their side. After last weeks vote, she'll probably gravitate toward them anyway, and they can take out Coach, Erin and Debbie.

AlphaFrog 04-27-2009 05:44 AM

It looks like on the previews that Coach tries to win Sierra back to his side. I don't think that's going to happen.

If I were anyone else EXCEPT Coach or Sierra, I would be doing everything I could to keep those two around and bring them to the Final with me...Although lately, it seems like every perception of who would be good jury fodder has backfired as of recently...before the last episode aired last season, I thought Sugar would be a lock.

SydneyK 04-27-2009 08:27 AM

I'm surprised by the edit Sierra is getting. All the survivors complain about her, but she doesn't come across as annoying as her competitors make her sound. Maybe I'm just so blinded by Coach's asshattery that I can't see others' faults.

I'm not sure what to make of Erin. Did she vote for Tyson last week? Is she in an alliance with Taj, JT and Stephen? She's been kinda invisible this whole season, so I don't quite know what to make of her.

About the all-girl alliance... I'm disappointed enough by the remaining girls that I would hate to see this happen. I'm not a big fan of already-wealthy people getting wealthier on Survivor, so I'm not pulling for Taj. Erin is, well, invisible. That leaves only Sierra and Debbie, and I'd much rather see JT win than either of them. But, because I've said that, JT will probably go home this week.

This has been one of the more interesting seasons of Survivor. I'm really enjoying it - it doesn't seem nearly as predictable as previous seasons.

Has there been a vote except for Sandy and MAYBE Spenser, that HASN'T been a blindside this season?

SydneyK 04-27-2009 07:53 PM

^^ lol

Are you suggesting that this season's unpredictability is predictable?

AlphaFrog 04-27-2009 08:06 PM

Well, it does seem like they've gone back to recruiting models/actors/has-been famous people, so I guess that would be par for the course.

I've liked her since the beginning, so clearly I'm missing something as well. Last week was the first week that I found her slightly annoying. Otherwise, she's a decent enough person in my book.

Part of me thinks that it isn't about the editing at all. A lot of people hated her from day 1. Remember, she was the one that everyone voted to go home before anything even happened. Then when she didn't have to walk to camp, and got a helicopter ride there, she spent her whole day building shelter... and no one cared. They still wanted to vote her out. I don't know why everyone hates her so much, but I like her. But even if she's in the final 3, there's probably no way in hell she'll ever win the million dollars.

a.e.B.O.T. 05-01-2009 03:26 AM

Ok, now I am unboard with really not understanding what they see in Sierra for all of them to go negatively against her saying she is lying and a deceitful snake, etc... and the Debbie flip out really made no sense to me... glad to see Coach caught in a lie, its just so awesome to see someone promote honesty being caught in a lie... and Coach quoting the bible, too bad he got immunity, and too bad they didnt vote out debbie... that sucks...

Why did Erin vote for Stephen... Taj vote for Debbi while the other four for sierra... this makes me uncomfortable... is JT and Steph blowing off Taj and Erin for Debbi and Coach?... and why the hell would Erin go against her alliance like that...
