I'm still reading Wicked. For some reason, it's been a hard book for me to read. I don't know if i'm just not into it, or if it's the way he writes.

I still haven't read Mirror, Mirror - I read the one based on Cinderella... it was okay. I loved Wicked.

I had a really hard time with "Wicked", too. I read it, but couldn't tell you hardly anything about it after I finished. I had the same problem with Toni Morrison's "Beloved".

eta: I know book titles are supposed to be underlined, not quoted. Everytime I try to underline one thing, everything else ends up underlined.

i was able to pretty much breeze through Wicked, but haven't been able to read more than 10 pages at a time of Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister. I've been reading it since October. Maybe i'll force myself to finish it on my next flight.

The Debutante Divorcee by Plum Sykes and The Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844 by Karl Marx for my Social Theory class

KatieKate1244 03-06-2009 05:56 PM

The Appeal by John Grishom. Apparently it was based off a judge who heard and ruled for a defendant who had given him big campaign bucks here in WV.

I feel for you. I had to read the Marx-Engels Reader for my sociological theory class.

It's a blog to book that I think is about to be made into a movie. So far...okay.

I loved that book. And yep, they already filmed the movie, it should be out later this year. Amy Adams is playing Julie and Meryl Streep is Julia.

"Boys Will Be Boys" by Jeff Pearlman. I read it a little while ago, it's about the Cowboys during the Jimmy Johnson years. It's really well-written and extremely entertaining, especially if you have an interest in sports.

I've been working on that one for two months! I love John Grisham, but I get so busy reading for everything else.

I'm reading Family Trust by Amanda Brown right now.

I read that in high school. Fun read :)

For those of you who have read Wicked, did you also read Son of a Witch? Although I had to force myself to finish Wicked, I'm thinking about giving its sequel a shot. Still, I can't bring myself to commit. So in the meantime, I'm rereading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. :)

icelandelf 03-07-2009 05:39 PM

I'm rereading all of the Southern Vampire Series.

Son of a Witch was the book I was reading before Wicked, but I got soo confused that I decided to go buy Wicked so I could read it first. It's in the style of writing as Wicked. IDK if i'll finish Son of a Witch because I have yet to comprehend what i'm reading of Wicked right now. lol

deltadevil 03-07-2009 07:23 PM

Right now im reading Drama High: Jayd's Legacy by L. Divine

Read all of Wicked (at least twice too!), but only got through half of Son of a Witch. I didn't like it as much, mostly because it wasn't as psychological, I think. I still have A Lion Among Men on my bookshelves, untouched.

KappaKittyCat 03-08-2009 11:50 PM

I just finished House of God by Sam Shem. Liked it a lot.

summer_gphib 03-14-2009 10:57 AM

The last good book I read was The Heretic's Daughter by Kathleen Kent. It's a really good novel based upon the Salem witchcraft trials.

AlwaysSAI 03-14-2009 04:28 PM

Bright Lights, Big Ass by Jen Lancaster.

<3 her!

Thetagirl218 03-14-2009 04:38 PM

I have been reading some non-fiction for a while now...EpiCenter 2.0 by Joel Rosenberg

amanda6035 03-14-2009 05:39 PM

I havent read a fiction novel in over a year :( Ever since I started grad school classes online I just cant find time for them. However, hubby and i started attending a Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University about a month ago, and I've been reading the book for it.

I wish this stuff would have been part of high school curriculum...I wouldnt have to be reading it now.

That's the problem I've been finding with law school, I don't get a chance to read as much non-law related stuff as I'd like.

LucyKKG 03-14-2009 06:02 PM

Counting on the Latino Vote by Louis DeSipio...

For class, obviously.

Agreed, While I have not converted to Dave Ramsey stuff I listen to him a lot on the radio. A lot of it is solid common sense and good advice when you are first starting a family and such. I was lucky to learn a similar curriculum in high school.

Yeah, we're trying to "fix" stuff before we do get the point of having kids. I really like how it teaches you to also teach your kids to be smart about money. I was/am a Suze Orman fan, but since I've started paying attention to Dave - his suggestions are a little easier to understand.

Planning to read "Son of A Witch" this week on the beach... we'll see if I can muddle through it.

I was just coming here to post this same thing!! (Except I only have a long weekend, not a whole week on the beach).

I just finished Enthusiasm by Polly Shulman. I was a cute read - but it seemed so FAST after the Twilight series.

deltadevil 03-15-2009 05:49 PM

Drama High: Frenemies

gee_ess 03-15-2009 07:09 PM

Beneath a Marble Sky by John Shors. It is about the love story behind the building of the Taj Mahal. I really enjoyed it.

I also really liked A Thousand Splendid Suns but totally dragged myself through Wicked. Wicked was just a little too weird for my taste.

Love this thread! I am making a list!

christiangirl 03-15-2009 10:43 PM

I just finished Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man by Steve Harvey. I see why it's a best seller. This book is insightful and HILARIOUS. I laughed my way all the way through it and learned a lot in the process.

ADqtPiMel 03-15-2009 10:49 PM

Just finished "In Defense of Food" and "The Omnivore's Dilemma." Between that and my new-found addiction to This American Life, I should probably pick up the Stuff White People Like book as well...

Xidelt 03-20-2009 12:58 AM

I'm kind of embarrassed to admit I'm reading the twilight series. And enjoying it...

I'm in the middle of this book. Absolutely hilarious. I needed a good laugh. I learned some things I didn't know before.
