Anyone else hear of/listen to the Verve Remixed Series? It takes older jazz/blues singers (Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, etc) and remixes the songs with house and downtempo beats.

I was always more of a trance fan..............give me some BT or DJ Micro anyday!

knight_shadow 02-13-2009 12:27 AM

^^^ I tried trance a while ago, but could never get into it. I only remember liking one song, but this was back when mp3.com sent out free CDs. I haven't heard anything enjoyable since then.

knight_shadow 02-13-2009 12:35 AM

Not even MK

Zephyrus 02-13-2009 02:19 AM

I really get into some of the trance music. A lot of the 80s remake stuff is pretty good.

Yes I agree. However, I meant that from more of an approach to the music, rather the end result. Turbalists comparing themeselves to improv musicians of the 50's and 60's, both groups envisisioning themselves on their respective instruments/equipment untill oldage and finally death prevent them.

plus, both house and jazz seem to be music for musicians. I don't know If i'd appreciate either one of them as much as I do if I didn't also play music.

Yeah it is, have you heard the remix/remake of "sunglasses at night?"

cheerfulgreek 02-15-2009 04:25 PM

I like some of the Britney Spears trance music. There are a ton of trance mixed music CDs for sale.

knight_shadow 04-10-2009 10:25 PM

I've had Lisa Shaw's new joint for a minute, but have never listened to it. I just popped it in today, and she reminded me why I love her music :D

Get off your butt and add them (I'm kidding) :p I would love to hear though. Ya know, I wish there was a way to add burned tracks, because I have some I would like to add too.

knight_shadow 05-28-2009 06:02 PM

I still love Soulstice. Anyone know of anything new coming out of OM Records? Fall Into You.

And I'm starting to get into this Ben Westbeech fellow. It's more D+B, but still.

House was fused with a bit of hip hop, jazz, r&b, very little rock (but then that starts leaning a bit to techno... and so many other elements so really depending on what you are listneing to you hear so many other elements.

House music gets it's name from the Warehouse nightclub in Chicago.

The CD is called "Chilling at the Playboy Mansion" by Chris Coco. Really groovy CD.:)

NinjaPoodle 09-11-2009 06:21 AM

Nooooooooo...my dance station was bought out and the new owner has switched to top 40 crap...

http://boards.radio-info.com/smf/ind...topic=148902.0

from wiki:
"KNGY was a reporter in Billboard Magazine's Hot Dance Airplay panel and is the most-listened-to dance/electronic radio station on the West Coast. KNGY as "Energy 92.7" offered a current-based mix of dance music, with Top 40, R&B remixes, disco and club classics from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s added into the presentation. It also broadcasted sophisticated and mood-enhanced tracks including down-tempo groove, future jazz, electronic rock and chillout beats."
