Add me to the "Red Hot Chi O" list. It is the only chant I have any memory of. I can sing it like it was yesterday, and it was first round at a large school.
|
I rushed 5 years ago and still remember parts of a few songs.
Chi O did something with Coca Cola's theme: "Chi Omega classic is always the one.." Kappa: "Three cheers for Kappa Kappa Gaaa-ma Three cheers for girls who wear the blue and blue.." AOPi: "A O A O A O Cutie Pi" Alpha Xi: Some really peppy chant that ended with "Alpha Xi, Alpha Xi, Delllll-Ta!" Delta Gamma: "D-E-L-T-A G-A-M-M-A Delta Gamma, that's what I am-a" |
I guess since I also preffed Alpha Chi I remember some of their songs...
I wannna be an Alpha Chi Yes, my oh my, something something And then there was one where they clapped... A-L-P-H-A C-H-I Omega, A-L-P-H-A C-H-I Omega We are the Alpha Chis and we are really great, clap, clap, clap, clap I also remember DZ singing something about its hot, its hot, its hot out here. KD sang something about I'm KD born and KD bred and when I die I'll be KD dead. And of course I know about a million Kappa songs :) |
The KD song PKTKKG mentioned sounds like Boomer Sooner reset for KD!
|
The Coka Cola chant...I can remember the tune but can't remember all the words. All I remember is:
The sun will always shine...... Do Do Do Do Do Do ................ As long as there's an Alpha Xi Do Do Do Do Do Do The Oscar Myer wiener song My sorority has a first name its A-L-P-H-A My sorority has a last name its D-E-L-T-A The middle name is hard to say It's spelled X-I Pronounced a Zee A-L-P-H-A X-I D-E-L-T-A Goodbye |
What I'm finding humorous is that I've heard several of these songs, but sung by a different sorority with their own letters/symbols in there.

Three cheers for Kappa Kappa Gaaamma! Three cheers for those who wear the blue and blue! And you can quote me when I say I am-aaaa Kappa girl from KKG! I'm true to the wise old owl who wears the golden key, Blue ribbon gardens grow the fleur de lis, Oh, the owl! The key! The fleur de lis! The blue and blue! Yes, that's for me! Rah rah for KKG! Now I'm all psyched up for Recruitment... less than a month to go! :D |

Oh yes. I was a Rho Gamma, so we had to learn at least one song from each house.
I still sing Kappa songs even six months later- "Rah Rah for KKG" & the KKG Chitty Chitty Bang song are ridiculously catchy... to the point that I was singing one in the grocery store under my breath and a lady heard me. She is a Kappa and thought I was one too... oops! We both got a good laugh out of it. I can't seem to remember all the words from TriDelt, but I remember the infamous jumping. There's also the Theta song to the tune of "Do Your Ears Hang Low" and DG's "D-e-l-t-a, Delta, D-e-l-t-a"... "Bye Bye" as previously referenced for ADPi is actually done by Pi Phi on my campus. I also love Sigma Kappa's: "Come be a Sigma, Sigma Kappa Come be a Sigma Kappa girl We are the Sigma, Sigma Kappas Come be a Sigma Kappa girl Mystic bond that ties the Sigmas Friendships true, we offer you, you, you So... Come be a Sigma, Sigma Kappa Come be a Sigma Kappa girl!" I think I got all the words right... sorry if I didn't! |

There's one I remember (3 years after graduation) from being next to Delta Zeta at Bid Night that starts out with:
I'm a DZ You're a DZ She's a DZ We're all DZ's Wouldn't you like to be a DZ too? |

I was visiting some of my sisters this week and I was reminded of this chant that we used during recruitment.
Boom Boom, there will be nothing but Theta Boom Boom, for the girls we love Boom Boom, there will be nothing but Theta With the blue skies up above There's a Theta kite for every girl that's right and two twin stars are shining bright! Boom Boom, there will be nothing but Theta Boom Boom, for the girls we love Boom Boom Theta! |

I'll always remember
"I wanna be a DG, oh yes, oh yes, oh yes I do I wanna be a DG, and wear the bronze and pink and blue Drop your anchor, come and be, part of our fraternity We love DG, so will you, if you drop your anchor too" |
"I'm so happy that I aaammmmmmmaa Kappa Kappa Gammmmmmma..."
Also, the SDT one, "something something some-thing, girls with personality. That's my sorority!" Then mine, "Badoom Badoom, Tri Delta, Badoom Badoom, Tri Delta, Badoom Badoom Tri Delta, Boom Boom Boom Boom Delta D D. "When you're at home and safe in bed, let the Tri Delt spirit run through your head, when you awake you'll know it's true, Tri Delt wants a little sister like you! Go D-E-L-T-A, go D-E-L-T-A, go D-E-L-T-A, go Tri Delta, whaddya say?" |

As a Zeta I don't think I will ever forget the Supercalifragilistic chant. Difficult to learn at first, but once you know it, you know it.
Zeta Z-E-T-A-T-A-U-A-L-P-H-A gives you love and sisterhood each end everyday, once you a part of it (you'll always wanna say) Zeta Z-E-T-A-T-A-U-A-L-P-H-A You just keep getting faster. I am unsure of the part in (), but it is something like that. (they'll always hear you say) maybe? |
another one of my faves:
"Oh, I'm a Delta Delta Delllllta, lucky person that I aaaam. A real live member of the D! D! D!, finest, in all of the laaand. Weee are always out on caaampus, aaand we hold our spirits hiiiiigh. I'm a DDD from (insert school initials) and mighty glad to beee one. I'm just a lucky Delta Triiii!" |
To this day when I hear "Sigmaration" I go into auto-pilot and start clapping and singing with a HUGE smile on my face. It triggers a recruitment flashback.

"I'm a Pepper, You're a Pepper....." Never saw that Full House episode... same tune perhaps? |
Ours was "Good-bye, good-bye, good-bye, good-bye! Good-bye to you from Gamma Phi, badadada, When you're home and safe in bed, Gamma Phi dreams run through your head, and when you wake you'll know it's true, Gamma - Phi Beta needs a sister like you!"

Wow, i can't believe no one's mentioned the chant that, without fail, gets stuck in my head come Recruitment time (unless I'm skimming too much and completely missed it)
Chi Omega, Chi Chi Omega C-H-I-O-M-E-G-A Chi Omega Chi Omega you'll agree It's the best sorority Chi Omega - Go Chi-O! Chi Chi Chi C, C, C-H-I O-M-E-G-A Chi Omega Chi Chi Omega And repeat :) |

A question for Gamma Phis...
There was this chant that the Gamma Phis on my campus does for the first round of recruitment and I was curious to know if anyone knows the words... It's a really intense cheer, and in fact I probably don't remember much of it because I was in too much of shock... lol Anyways, they had all the PNMs sit in a big room (living room or something?) and they had two sets of french doors closed that they were hiding behind. But, the PNMs don't know this of course, lol. The room falls to a silence as the PNMs wait for the actives to come out, and all of a sudden they just start cheering and banging on the doors, scaring the crap out of just about every PNM lol The good kind of scare, of course :) All I remember was "GAMMA GAMMA GAMMA PHI!!!!".... there was a lot of banging and loudness. lol, I don't know if this is one that was unique to the chapter on my campus or if anyone else knows it. I was always just curious as to how the rest went! |
Sounds like . .
G with an A with a M! M with an A with a P! P with an H! H with an I! Gamma, Gamma, Gamma Phi! |
Yeah...I'm really bored lol, messing around on youtube!
This one is from a Gamma Phi Beta convention: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-bsU7kRjJM |

I bet it was something that is something just this chapter does. I was just curious because it is still to this day one of my most vivid memories (well besides the words lol) and I was just so blown away by it lol |

We sing at our chapter saying "when you are a part of it you're always proud to say..." I always loved ASA's goodnight song. I can't remember it exactly but it went something like: "It's such a perfect night, it doesn't seem quite right..." I can always hear that one being sung in my head. |

The song is "Linger." We used to do that song for all the seniors at Senior Talks. It's a very popular song for Preference parties. |
mmm...
I wanna linger mmm... a little longer mmm... a little longer here with you. mmm... and if you pledge Phi Mu mmm... you'll be a sister too! mmm... and join our bond so strong and true! (etc., lyrics continue) (We also use that one-and for a lot more than pref.!) |
The Rice Krispies song--
Alpha, what a happy sound! You've got to have Alpha to make the world go round. Alpha, Gamma, Delta, Alpha Gamma Delta makes the world go round. Gamma, what a groovy sound! You've got to have Gamma to make the world go round. Alpha, Gamma, Delta, Alpha Gamma Delta makes the world go round. Delta, what a darned good sound! You've got to have Delta to make the world go round. Alpha, Gamma, Delta, Alpha Gamma Dalta makes the world go round. Alpha Gamma Delta makes the world go round. |
Although I am a Phi Mu, the one rush/recruitment song that still sticks in my head (mind you this was over 15 years ago) is a Tri-Delt one...
There's a Tri-Delt chapter down at transy U With the colors silver gold and blue Pine tree tall and Pansy too Delta Delta wants a sister like you Go D E L T A Go D E L T A Go D E L T A Delta Delta Delta that's what we say So when you're home asleep in bed Let the tri-delt melody run through your head when you wake you'll find it's true Delta Delta wants a sister like you Go D E L T A Go D E L T A Go D E L T A Delta Delta Delta that's what we say |
I still remember the sing-and-sway songs that we did. It was the Auburn version of a door chant. I'll be in a shop with my husband and have to hold on to my buggy just so I don't start swaying side to side. He always laughs because he knows why. Sometimes it doesn't work and my hand automatically pop up to my sides and I start singing under my breath. The worst ones for me are Venus and You Can't Hurry Love. I still know the lyrics, almost too well.

Pi Phi Beta Phi
P I P H I Pi Phi Me for my for Beta Phi for I just love Pi Beta Phi we had another one where we said the line - We all drink vodka in our lemonade, and we still manage to maintain our grades! Obviously, a different day and age ;) We also said, Give our regards to Kappa, remember us at theta too, tell all the girls at Chi Omega they won't be seeing you! haha - definitely a different time! Funny how I can remember those songs, yet I can't remember somebody's name who I just met!! |
