I don't know if any of you will remember this but there was a show on when I was a kid called The Courtship of Eddie's Father. It was about a single dad (widow) and his son. The theme song gets stuck in my head now and then, I don't know why it sticks after all these years:
People let me tell you 'bout my best friend, He's a warm hearted person who'll love me till the end. People let me tell you 'bout my best friend, He's a one boy cuddly toy, my up, my down, my pride and joy. People let me tell you 'bout him he's so much fun Whether we're talkin' man to man or whether we're talking son to son. Cause he's my best friend. Yes he's my best friend. (scat finish). |

now that im home with a one year old, i must admit im starting to love the Backyardigans song...i find myself humming it while im vacuuming! |
I'm late to the game, I think most of the ones I would have said have already been mentioned, though I don't think I saw "Happy Days" (Sunday, Monday, Happy Days...). There were also some classic "no words" theme songs to some great 80s shows I loved like Miami Vice, Hill Street Blues, LA Law. I loved TV in the 80s. I also loved Roseanne's opening music (good early 90s TV).

I'd say the theme from Maude was ahead of its time.
|
I still love the theme to "I Love Lucy," especially when it used to have the words sung along to it.

My favorite will always be the closing theme from "The Roundhouse" that used to come on Nickelodeon. For the life of me, I can't find it anywhere on the net and I'd love to hear it just one more time. :(
Whenever my life gets me so down, I know I can go down, To where the music and the fun never ends. As long as that music keeps playing, You know what I'm saying, I know that I can find a friend, Down at the ROUNDHOUSE :D ETA: AAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As soon as I posted, I tried an old link to a sound file that had long since been removed and it WORKED. After months of searching dead end links, I GOT TO HEAR MY SONG OFF THAT VERY FIRST ONE I TRIED MONTHS AGO!!!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D |
Oh gosh...I loved those Nickelodeon shows growing up! Salute Your Shorts, The Adventures of Pete and Pete, Hey Dude....
I loved the theme to Clarissa Explains it All But other ones I love...Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Friends....those are my favorites! |
Navy JAG
Walker, Texas Ranger. Doctor Who |
I always liked the scene from the movie M*A*S*H when "Suicide Is Painless" is played - it fits the mood.
Has anyone mentioned: Cheers WKRP in Cincinnati (both of them!) These are the opening lyrics: "Baby, if you've ever wondered Wondered whatever became of me I'm living on the air in Cincinnati Cincinnati WKRP Got kind of tired of packin' and unpackin' Town to Town Up and down the dial Maybe you and me Were never meant to be Just maybe think of me Once in a while I'm at WKRP in Cincinnati. About the closing lyrics: The ending theme song, a cool little rock ditty, was done by a group of studio musicians in Atlanta, GA. The words are unintelligible for a very simple reason -- there are no words! The vocal was basically a "scratch" track, i.e., a vocal track recorded solely to help the musicians and the show's producers get a feel for the song and the lyric melody. But the producers liked it as is, and it was never changed, so there aren't any words, just meaningless gibberish! (from www.imdb.com) |
the theme song to Gilligan's Island is pretty catchy.. def one of my favs
Pepper Ann, and Doug also had the best theme songs |
