Go to a Barnes and Noble and order hot chocolate from their Starbucks-esque cafe. They have Godiva hot chocolate. The first time I had it, I whispered to my co-worker, "Is this what sex is like when you put it in a cup?" :o

HARDEES, HARDEES, HARDEES...

i went one day on my 45 minute lunch break...5 minutes to get there, 40 minutes to get my food???...had the NERVE to have a "how are we doing?" sticker in the window, so i called and told them that i was sitting for over 20 minutes to get my food. by the time they got my information to send me a coupon for a meal, i was still in line. i know you are wondering why i didnt get out the car and go inside (it was snowy and below freezing lol!) and i honestly wanted to know how long it was going to take! i did call the manager when i got to work and cursed him out as well...

eta: i forgot about kfc running out of chicken at 7pm, mcdonalds not having any ketchup, and wendys running out of salads at 4pm. the biggest one for me was calling Pizza Hut at 7pm and they had NO CRUST. only chicken wings and pasta...wtf?

Fawn Liebowitz 10-31-2008 05:46 PM

A friend and I went through the McDonald's drive thru - he ordered the Filet-o-fish...NO TARTAR SAUCE. They confirmed, "So that's no tartar sauce, just fish and cheese on the bun?" He said yes, we drove away. Imagine how angry he was when he opened his fish sandwich and it was a bun...full of ONLY tartar sauce, no fish and no cheese.

christiangirl 10-31-2008 07:19 PM

Last night, daddy and I went to the golden arches and he asked for lettuce, tomato, and onions on his burger...so the woman goes, "Just lettuce, tomato and onion? You don't want the bread?"

I called Taco Hell to complain about the hair in my food. She asked for the number on my receipt and I told her I didn't get one (I WISH they did free meals for no receipt!). She then took down my name and address...for "recording purposes." I didn't even get a coupon, that's not how they work.

kdizzy 10-31-2008 07:32 PM

I remember late at night going to McDonald's with some of my sisters and ordering the 5 piece chicken nuggets. It must have been right before closing because they ended up giving me 30 nuggets...I am guessing they just wanted to get rid of them? Good thing I had a sorority house full of ladies to help me eat them!

I'm about to gross some people out. We got food from Taco Bell and went home. My cousin was eating upstairs in her room and then rushed downstairs. She tells us to stop eating because she found a roach in her taco. Not a leg a piece, but a wole roach in the taco meat. She drove back to the TB and they just took it back and threw it away. She called customer service and she got......you guessed it, NOTHING! Ewww.

OHHHH yeah, i've been to KFC when they've run out of chicken, it's just funny to me when they do but people get sooooo upset. What do you expect that they have an infinite number of chicken pieces available? Stores do run out!

Sometimes it's a combination of things. I've only been to a KFC once when it happened, but what happened there was a late shipment. The store was already low in chicken and the shipment didn't arrive on time. But when that happens the store is required to close for the night.

I've been to a local hamburger place (like a mom & pop restuarant) where they ran out of hamburger meat to make the hamburgers! lol. It happens.

When I worked at Coldstone we ran out of like 5 different flavors of ice cream, because the owners didn't order enough & the shipment was late. So I guess that is why i'm more lenient on restaurants, cause i know what it feels like to turn customers away b/c you don't have the product.

smiley21 10-31-2008 10:38 PM

I refuse to eat at Burger King because of what happened when I got food for my mom. The one I went to had an open kitchen behind the order counter. In other words, you can see all of the employees as they make your food. I just hated watching these people, because not one person had on gloves. They were just grabbing at food (from the buns to actually grabbing the lettuce with their hands). The fact that these people looked unkempt just made it worse. I had to leave before they took my order. I wanted to find some place to puke. I went right home and talked my mom into never eating at Burger King.

Zephyrus 11-01-2008 03:26 AM

The only problem I've had and continue to have is when I eat at McDonalds. The burger is always hot, but everything else on it is cold. Either that or the cheese isn't melted.

KillarneyRose 11-01-2008 12:44 PM

I've had more proplems with Wendy's than any other fast food restaurant. For a place that custom makes each and every order, it's amazing how often they get it wrong.

A few years ago, Mr. KR and were driving on I-95 and we stopped at a Wendy's drive through and got something to eat. When I opened up my chicken sandwich, I saw that it had mayonaise on it and I detest mayonaise on my chicken sandwich. So, instead of turning around and going back, we pulled into the next Wendy's we saw. I marched in, told them that their drive thru people had made a mistake, and got a new sandwich :)

I love the one in Providence. They make great hot chocolate and the line in the morning is usually pretty short (if there is a line) not like the long lines @ DD! Yum!

Wendy's:

My then roommate and I through drive through and I order my sandwich without lettuce. We get our food and then pull over in the parking lot to eat (we were both hungry but didn't want to go inside.) I check my sandwich, it has lettuce. I go inside now and talk to the manager. He tells them to make it without lettuce. I open it up in front of him...yup, there was lettuce. He then went and made it for me.

Taco Bell:

Always running out of chicken.

There's a bunch of locations in Connecticut - I don't think I've ever stopped at one, but there are quite a few in the area.

This thread is kinda funny to me, because we don't have many of the places mentioned - Chick Fil A, Hardee's, Dunkin Donuts, Tim Hortons, Boston Market.

Yeah, I have NO idea what Tim Horton's is....

Anyways, it never ceases to amaze me the trouble Mcdonalds has making a plain cheeseburger. PLAIN. NOTHING ON IT BUT CHEESE. Come on people, that requires even LESS effort to make.

And KFC....ewww....walking into our KFC is NASTY. I feel like I need a facial when I leave. The food is ALWAYS cold and mushy.

I miss Bojangles. And Sonic.

I always look in the bag. And I worked fast food too, but can't say I ever spit in the food.

Our problem around here is the McDonalds. They can NEVER get the order right. For instance - I despise onions. Inevitably, every time I order a cheeseburger without onions, it's a cheeseburger with only onions. The same goes with their drinks. Sweet tea, extra ice. But it's normally sweet tea, no ice.

And can we at least agree that Krispy Kreme is awful? haha. Their coffee is horrible and their donuts, well.. they're not like Dunkins'. I love that they built a KK in Medford, MA and it went out of business within a few years of opening.

I think it tends to be where KK or DD is located. I know here DD isn't half as popular as KK. But the best time to get KK doughnuts is when they're hot off the rack.

I've had coffee and a doughnut from both places before and maybe it's because of the region of the country I'm from but I prefer KK to DD anyday.

DDs are more filling, especially the blue berry ones.

I've tried DD's blueberry ones and I didn't care for them. But on the positive for DD they have some GREAT iced lattes. :)

But there is one fast food place I've never ever had a problem with and that's Chick-f-la. My order has never been messed up when I've gone through drive thru or went in to eat, and on the rare occassion they do mess up, they remake it for you & give you a free coupon.

Oh and the best sweet tea is from Chick-f-la or McAllister's. Mickey D's and Zaxby's are just plain gross.

I would say that Rally's has never given me a problem. Everything is always right and hot. I've always wondered about their meat though. I know it was a joke and all, but some people say it isn't beef.

I totally forgot about Dunkin Donuts. Yep, the same thing happened to me there too. It wasn't with the bagels though, it was with the donuts. RA, it was SO weird. It was as though part of the donut was infected with a different taste. Usually, I'll tear off the the bad piece and eat the rest. I did have one where the taste was so gross that it did end my breakfast that morning. I wonder what that taste is. Do they even know that this has been happening to people? It's got to be somewhere in one of their health policy manuals or something.

I remember when I used to eat fast food, chicken McNuggets from McDonalds would leave a horrible taste in my mouth. Then I watched that movie about that guy that who ate too much McDonalds and it made him sick.

I've never had issues at Sonic, Culver's, or Good Times.

The last two are local chains, and I think Culver's is still family owned.

Ok, this is a pet peeve of mine, but I hate it when someone says they don't like McDonalds because of the movie "Supersize Me." He ate McD's for breakfast, lunch & dinner for 30 days, of course he was going to get sick. We watched it in my first semester of college English and the whole class came to the consensus that it was not an "eyeopening experience" like it seemed Spurlock intended it to be.

SWTXBelle 11-02-2008 08:46 PM

I love Krispy Kreme doughnuts. So light . . . Dunkin Donuts are like hockey pucks.

I picked up a Happy Meal for my son - they forgot the toy. That makes it a Sad Meal.:(

nikki1920 11-02-2008 10:00 PM

I've never had an issue with Chic-Fil-A or Sonic. They have the best service, IMO. I am rarely satisfied at KFC and Burger King. If I come into some money, I'm buying Sonic and Chic-fil-A franchises.

christiangirl 11-02-2008 11:52 PM

Okay, I don't discriminate AT ALL, but this is something I can't handle. I went to McDonald's in DC and NO ONE spoke English. If it wasn't a menu item, they didn't know it. I was trying to ask if the "light" lemonade was sugar-free because my dad's diabetic and no one had a clue what I was asking, including the manager. I'm all for retaining your own culture, but please speak the language of the majority if you're going to work with the majority!

I don't know if it counts as fast food, but I've had terrible service at Johnny Rockets. I've tried picking up from there a few times, and something was always messed up. The last time, I got food poisoning. Thus, I haven't been there since.

I got food poisoning my first time at Waffle House and never went back. People in the south act like it's the greatest thing ever, but I flat out refuse to fight that demon again.

cheerfulgreek 11-03-2008 01:24 AM

Speaking of the Waffle House, I only ate there once, but I thought it was like any other breakfast place. I thought they served most breakfast foods. I asked for pancakes but they didn't serve pancakes. I was surprised because there are pancake places that serve waffles.

I thought the food was good though.

You apparently don't have any GOOD breakfast places nearby.

sthrnsweetie007 11-03-2008 04:25 AM

Haha. For real. The only time I eat Waffle House, and I hail from the South, is when I am tipsy, and even then I don't normally eat there.

But to quote whoever said they would buy a Sonic franchise. The couple of ones here are HORRIBLE, they've messed up my order both times I went over the summer and the wait for a fast food place was way too long, I mean I could've ordered a meal at McAllister's eaten half of it and Sonic still wouldn't have been done with my order.
