According to irishpipes' thread, the only closed NPC chapter at Idaho is Alpha Chi Omega, which she lists as having closed in 1988. So that would be a possibility too.

I knew some GCers would be able to figure it out! :)

Scratch one more off the list...

Not a Theta. I checked under both her maiden and married names.

In the grand scheme of life does it matter if Greeks ruled the White House?

Probably not.

Does anyone know whether or not she was in a sorority? I couldn't find anything on it so far.

I'm going to check the University of Idaho yearbook this afternoon, but I am pretty sure the answer is NO.

Agreed, I never showed up in the "Was Joe Biden in a fraternity?" thread to question his judgment for not quitting the Senate when his boys were in the hospital and his wife died or to point out how I better donate to McCain because Biden's just another tax-and-spend democrat (blech!).

So how bout we have the same decorum here, dems?

I just looked through the yearbook Gem of the Mountains and only found ONE picture of her in 1987, her senior photo. I went back four years and did not find her name listed under any sorority chapter photo or in a women's residence hall. This doesn't mean she isn't in a sorority, but it is highly unlikely. Sure she could have joined and then dropped, but that would mean she pledged a sorority and isn't a member.

Don't we think if she was our sister our Inter/National Organizations would have already listed her as an accomplished member when she was elected as the governor of Alaska?

Just curious. If she isn't a sorority member, do you think any sorority will reach out to her and invite her to be an alumnae member like what AKA did to Michelle Obama?

When she was elected governor of Alaska I did a cursory glance to see if she was a sister, or had a Greek affiliation, and didn't find one.

What I can do is stop by the library today and peruse The Gem of the Mountains, the campus yearbook that was printed until five or so years ago. I'm thinking she lived in the Residence Halls or off campus.

I know when I was in Alaska last summer her face was everywhere, including the Delta Junction library since she supports reading and libraries. On the train they mentioned her hometown of Wasilla and I did a portion of the Vandal fight song, the tourists had a good laugh. I also am reserving judgment on the status of her new child as we don't know their family dynamics so her husband or another family member may be caring for that child full time so she can fulfill her duties as governor.

I have seen things about her here and there in the Vandal Vibe but never did it mention a Greek affiliation.

Such credible and neutral sources too.

Really those two are approximately the left's version of Rush and the Hannity radio show. I understand reading them, but just like listening to Rush or Hannity, I wouldn't go admitting in public that I did.

AAiiiyyeeee....thread pixies were here.

So why is this one still here?

I doubt my NPC would. We don't do honorary AI. If a woman is selected for alumna initiation, she would be expected to actively participate in the fraternity, and I don't think Governor Palin would have time for that.

Exactly. Being Governor of an entire state is seems like it'd be an automatic 'in' to the Accomplished Alums section of the sorority website.

I hope to God mine doesn't.

Dunno, there's just so much controversy surrounding Sarah Palin, and I don't know what sorority in their right mind would want to invite her for membership. AGD does not have honorary memberships, either.

I disagree about the controversy part :D but I doubt an NPC would invite a high-profile politician because their existing membership would of course include women of differing political views. I doubt they would want to alienate half of their existing membership. You know, the ones that are actually doing the work for the Fraternity.
