That's why I hate when some threads disappear; people think that since their words are "gone", they can pretend they conducted themselves in an entirely different manner than they really did. If the threads were just locked but stayed available, it would hold people accountable and make them own up to when they've acted like spoiled brats or big jerks.

I belong to another message board community where the admin has it set up that you can't edit/delete your post two hours after posting it. His reasoning is that it encourages people to put some thought into what they post, instead of spouting off crap that they'll just regret writing later. It also preserves the integrity of message board.

He makes exceptions and will remove posts, especially if you ask him nicely, but all in all, I like that policy.

It would also make it easier to call someone out when they lie about things...

Then you started with the name calling and I replied - the only name I called anyone was when I said "acting like a 14 year old spoiled brat". If you think I insulted you then thats your problem. I have the right to say what I want on a message board just like you do. You can move on or hold a grudge that's your decision. This is message board and I actually can "waltz away" when ever I want to. I am very happy you are not waiting for an apology because I dont owe you one... and you can drop it or hang onto it for the rest of your life ... thats up to you. I cant control how you feel or think, I am only in control of my own feelings and actions. Many people (like me) have DSL and don't log off of everything when they walk away from the computer. I've left a screen up at home all day long while I've been at work before, so don't put too much stock in the 'what they are doing' feature here. Just sayin'.

Suffice to say, phimu88 is trying to refresh her image as a genteel, highminded southern woman since the thread in which she was hurling insults, intimating she was "above" others and just continued to poke and poke and poke the bears was locked and disappeared. Her fake cheeriness in her posts the last few days after reading her nasty-toned posts that night has been laughable, to say the least.

ETA: I haven't read all this junk and probably weren't even if it were still around, but is it really fair to suggest that getting mad once in a while negates basically being nice the rest of the time? I don't mean that anyone insulted has to forgive anyone else; just that being mad in an argument doesn't mean you aren't basically a nice, cheerful person generally, does it?
