Okay, I'm normally quite good at research--actually known for great research skills--but for some reason I just can't find good results trying to find the local chapter websites or even MySpace or Facebook pages for Greek girls from this school. What am I doing wrong? I hope it's because I need coffee or something and not a permanent flaw.

I agree...houses don't cut you for buying a designer bag on sale. Now some houses might cut you for not meeting certain appearance/fashion standards, but rarely have I encountered a house where the sisters, even the rich ones, cut a girl for wearing a really cute dress that she got off the sale rack! And even in the 'rich' houses, the girls aren't all running off to Europe in the summers (although apparently they all run to become camp counselors...see another recent thread...). So don't worry so much about whether you're rushing at a 'rich' house or not...you may still run into some superficial people, but it is rare that you run into them at such an absurd level...as in, "Oh My God, I Saw That Dress On The Sale Rack At Nordstrom's!"

You might also try searching the campus paper by each sorority's names...this will tell you a lot about campus involvement (or campus disgraces...). |
While it's great to know some things about the sororities on campus and visit their websites before recruitment, be sure to not make too much of a judgement of the sororities based on their websites.

Call me confused, but are both a mother and a daughter using this particular user name? That's certainly what it looks like judging from the past posts. Or someone has a split personality.
From the prior posts here and other places, "DD" hasn't even entered her senior year in high school yet. It's time to focus on studying, enjoying your senior year and re-taking the SAT so you can gain admission to the "selective" and "more selective" colleges you desire, not on the "reputations" of sororities at colleges you might attend. |
Thanks for pointing that out, Lady Longhorn...how strange...I'm sorry I wasted all that time trying to give helpful responses if this is just a helicopter mom trying to pretend she is a soon-to-be PNM...Lady Longhorn's advice is spot on, whoever you are...you do not need to be thinking about this stuff if you/your daughter is still in high school.
