I think it's perfectly fine to list on your resume who you have worked for/with. It will probably be a good way to show that you are aware and connected in the real world. It would also probably help the chapter match you with someone similar to you. Of course there is no reason to discuss political issues during recruitment, but I don't see any problem with talking about working on a campaign trail. What Obama's interns and McCain's interns do is probably very similar as far as intern duties. It will be probably make for a good break from the "what's you major" discussion! I say list it! There are girls in my chapter who are vocal conservatives, liberals and EVERYTHING in between as far as their political ideology is concerned. I really think it will help you and not hurt you at all.

thanks for the input...go SEC! :-D

Ok, I guess it's a little different in sororities. My house is almost exclusively Republicans (we have a few Dems that we like to give grief about it) and while we don't talk politics during rush (except with kids whose relatives are in politics) bringing up that yhe worked for Obama for America wouldn't preclude a good kid from getting a bid, but it certainly isn't helping put him on a fast track for a bid either. I guess that's just fraternities though.

i understand where you're coming from. i don't plan on bringing up the specifics of my campaign work during rush unless asked, and i don't plan to glorify it. i never had any doubts about that. :-) my only question is whether it is appropriate to list on my resume. thanks for your help!

In my experience, even elite conservative southern sorority chapters have at least a few liberals in 'em. Which, you're correct, that's not often the case with fraternities of a similar nature/tier.
