Honey I am so sorry to hear that your friendship ended. That does suck a lot.
However, it's like Madea says, sometimes people are in your life for a season and sometimes they are in your life for good. It just seems to hurt when what you thought was a root to the tree was only a branch or a leaf.
However, now you know and you've just got to move on. It doesn't mean that you can't say hi or that you don't acknowledge her, you just say hi and keep it moving. Eventually when her well does run dry, she'll know what she's missing and that person will be YOU!
You were trying to do good, but some people just don't want to hear reality when it's present. All you can do is lovingly present it and keep it moving.

Send your old friend a Summer's Eve prize pack as a first wedding anniversary gift. It's classy and it shows you care.

LOL.

some ppl have a hard time seeing the forest for the trees. i would think that having been friends for so long and if u had really approached her the right way (which it appeared that you did) then she should have appreciated your concern. its so silly to take offense at that, then not have the balls to speak up, and give the relationship an opportunity to mend.

good riddance, and u saved tons of money in the end.

I'm really sorry that things worked out this way- it's sad to see a long friendship like that end. But how petty of her to behave the way that she did- you expressed your concern for her, and she thanked you by demoting you, then hiding her true feelings from you for so long. Bah!

Keep your chin up, and I agree with keeping a journal about this, if you're into writing. It may help you process this whole thing. :)

Thanks everbody (except you, DS, I caught that! :p). I'm doing a little better, though I still can't believe she ended a decade-long friendship over something this stupid. Did I mention all this happened over FB because she refused to answer my phone calls? She sent me a message calling me a "hater," I never wanted her to be happy, blah blah blah. When I didn't respond, she sent me another one saying she didn't want to fight anymore, she's sorry for how things turned out between us (note: Not for any of the horrible things she said, just how it all turned out) and that she wishes me happiness. Whatever. Back atcha, babes. It all works out because all this went down RIGHT before I got her belated-wedding present: $150 to Target. I'd held off on getting the gift card until I saved up enough to get the amount I wanted to give her. Now, that cash is going toward my birthday trip to Manhattan.

Anyway, I can't deal with her. My family's going through a huge crisis (my 13yo cousin attempted suicide) and nothing else matters except her getting some help. My cousin is the most important person in my life right now. Any and all prayers would be appreciated. I'm just grateful we didn't lose her.

Wow. Drama.

Some women are like that though. I have a friend who--though we are still friends--I am not as close too because I expressed concern for her about one of her relationships. She is no longer with the guy because turns out he was a loser and she did deserve better, but our friendship has not been the same.

I never have known how to handle that, because if I had to do it again I would do the same thing. I would rather have a friend out of a relationship that is potentially harmful to her--even if it means that she ends up hating me--than to sit back, say nothing, and watch something awful happen.
