From this thread, I thought I'd update on the University of Tulsa (Zeta Lambda).
It is definitely in the works. We are in contact with Chris Healy and Michael Mills from nationals, and all parties have been communicating with the Office of Student Affairs on campus. IFC has already voted to consider the expansion process. Now IFC will be voting in Sept. on which direction to go: Option 1) They vote on re-activating the Sigma Nu chapter. This is what we want as they will simply invite us back on campus, and our alumni and nationals will get to work. Option 2) They vote on the formal expansion process. This is where they invite 6 fraternities to submit letters of interest. From this it is narrowed down to 3 fraternities to come to campus and make their presentation. And thanks to Kevin for your help. I've provided the contact you gave me to nationals. From that 1 contact we found that there are approximately 6 or 7 initiated Sigma Nu men going to law school at Tulsa :) |
Also, the University of Oregon was mentioned in this thread.
They are set to make a comeback Spring 2009. It would be interesting to know if they held onto ownership of their historic house? http://media.collegepublisher.com/me...54741-39-1.jpg Animal House: It was used for the exterior shots of Mandy and Babs' sorority house. Also, the interior was used for the basement (toga party) scenes, rush scenes, and other party scenes (including D-Day riding his motorcycle up the stairs). Closed in 2004: http://media.www.dailyemerald.com/me...-1968950.shtml I didn't know they had that many alumni. They have initiated over 1500 brothers. |
Its been awhile since this topic has been visited so I thought it might be interesting to see what people think in 2010.
I am from the Dallas area so I would like to see some of the local chapters back up and running. 1 SMU - Iota Theta 2 TCU - Lambda Epsilon 3 North Texas - Zeta Omicron Also I would like to see HQ focus on reopening/colonizing at schools that are near existing chapters. I always felt that there was a lot of missed opportunity from chapters helping other chapters. |
I'd like to see Oklahoma recolonized, but that's already going to happen.
|
Kevin, I heard it was going to be to on the heels of a capital campaign and new house there. Any truth to that? Their old battleship is in a really nice area, but is being surrounded by some truly impressive mansions making it hard to compete (geez, that new Fiji house is insane).
|
Just read the new Delta, and it had some interesting listings for "future colonization"
- Univ. of Oklahoma (Delta Epsilon) is already being mentioned. - Univ. of Texas (Upsilon) going to make another go at it? This one seems very difficult due to the limitations on housing there (location, and ridiculous real estate costs/taxes). |

BOOMER SOONER - Can't wait for them to get back on campus!
FYI, Looks like Delta Iota is finally returning at Washington State and will be moving back into that humongo mansion. http://www.dailyevergreen.com/story/34469 |
So, they are going to split their lot and sell half of it to ATO for a pretty penny ($700k). I don't think that lot is big enough for this monstrousity below as well as another house.
http://www.oudaily.com/news/2011/sep...door-sigma-nu/ Sigma Nu would need their whole lot to fit this thing on it: http://www.chaptertools.net/site_fil...5470_large.jpg |
ETA NU! (University of Louisiana at Lafyette). It's my dad's, uncle's, godfather's chapter that were pulled for hazing back in 2006 but we have petitioned and will be getting our charter back in mid-November! Can't wait to call those great men above my brother and fellow knights
|
I got an email on December 20th that the Kappa Epsilon chapter (Appalachian State University) will be recolonizing after being closed in 2009, which is awesome, since they're our big brother chapter.

You are anti-balcony? Looks like UNT and OU are looking to start recolonization efforts soon... OU is starting the house:
