Rotting away in class 3 days a week and fooling around on GC while I pretend to be type notes.

Studying for the bar exam. :(

ThetaPrincess24 06-02-2008 09:22 PM

my non-traveling summer plans include remodeling the inside of our house, our gardening, taking husband's ex-wife to court and suing for full custody of the kids, and turning in my letter of resignation :)

teaching 8th grade algebra starting next week. dear god, help me. i've only ever taught middle school english.

Xidelt, that happened to me this year. The school decided to have all of the teachers teach a 25-minute daily math course (what happened to Highly Qualified?) and they gave me one of the higher 8th grade classes because I teach GED math 2 nights a week at a jail. I told them I can't graph equations so what was most of the class doing? You got it.

Sometimes I hate the CRCT.

I'm writing my master's thesis, working and planning some fun day trips to areas around Cork I haven't been as well as some hiking.

I am very excited for my month long vacation home seeing friends and family plus a good friends wedding!

We won't be traveling out of state this summer (or taking a real, extended "vacation"), but we will be driving a little bit.

Traveling plans include going to my hometown county fair, going to the state fair and visiting the ILs.

Non-traveling plans include finishing our sunroom, fixing our bedroom, reroofing the garage, going through all the junk in the basement, converting the guest room (otherwise known as my walk-in closet) to a room for my son and getting things ready in his old nursery for the new baby. We'll also do our usual local Freedom Festival events - BBQ roundup, balloon glow, fireworks, etc - as well as go to a few minor league baseball games, go on lots of walks and maybe try and hit the Amana Colonies for a day.

I don't know when we're going to do all this as both the husband and I will still be working full time during the summer.

Finally putting in a front walkway and back patio. We built the house two years ago and it's taking a while to put things in. We might just get adventurous and put in some shrubberies too.

Non-traveling: working part-time, cleaning out the basement and possibly holding a yard sale or Freecycle extravaganza! I might try to grow some basil or cilantro, if not I have my flowers to baby all summer. We also need to repaint the front and back door trim in the very near future, and of course the normal running the boys from activity to activity.

We actually will be doing some traveling in June, as oldest son is going to Boys State, youngest to Boy Scout Camp, DH and middle son to NY State for a family party, and I'm driving to Nashville for AOII's Leadership Institute. No formal family vacation or anything like that though.

And how have your summer plans worked out so far?

Hahahahahaaaaa! We actually got the attic done, no thanks to Baby Berry who had dumped years of college trash into the attic! Now onto cleaning up the rest of the house so the exchange students won't faint!:D

alum 07-06-2008 08:49 PM

I will be having major surgery. :(

carnation 07-06-2008 09:07 PM

And I will be praying about that. Please send me the date!

VandalSquirrel 07-06-2008 09:26 PM

I went on an archaeology dig and worked 6 days a week being dirty (but I had to travel to get there, so does that count?), but I completed 6 credits doing it, so not really a vaca. I am taking a class about Buddhism, it starts tomorrow.

I'm dealing with VandalShyster studying for the bar, because supporting him through law school didn't suck enough.

All June travels were successful, and it looks like July will bring round 2 of the college tours! Of course, have I painted anything, or planted herbs, or cleaned the basement yet? Nope! :D

Good luck with your surgery, alum--and Good luck with the bar exam and the class, VS!

I actually did a little bit of traveling in May. Went to an SAI leadership seminar in Birmingham, AL from May 16-18.

Other than that, I've been working at my banging internship. I work with teenagers and adults with disabilities and we work on forming the correct social skills for different social settings. So, I'm spending the summer going bowling, swimming at the pool (2x week), going to the waterpark (1x week), and going to the movies all for free. But, of course, I have to work with my client. But, it's been great fun!

I've been to Garner twice to visit some old family friends. And, may be going to the shore to visit another friend.

And, I went to a wedding.

Other than that, I'm going to spend my time hanging out with my sisters and brothers. And, getting ready to teach RO to my chapter in the fall.
