Oh, no, we have a protocol! Headquarters strongly advises against a tattoo of letters, open motto, badge...etc, etc.

The culprit.....obviously doesn't listen.

ETA: I did a quick search of the website and didn't find anything. I'm going to keep looking. I know I've read it somewhere!

In my chapter, getting a tat has always had a stigma associated with it. In all the years I have been a member, every single guy that got a letters tat has been thrown out or deactivated within a semester. If it was just one or two...no big deal. This was like 7 guys over the course of three years.

I have my letters on the outside of my ankle. They are very tiny, but it still hurt like hell because it was right over the bone. I don't think I'll ever get another.

I actually like that SAI tattoo. It's some beautiful artwork. I wouldn't get it as large as it is, but whoever inked her did a beautiful job on the shading and details.

I don't understand what is SO BAD about tattooing one's letters. Those rules were probably made before tattoos became less taboo. If anything, it shows a sister (or brother's) lifelong devotion.

If I ever got a Sigma-related tattoo, I would probably get a small (like less than the size of a quarter) violet on the inside of my ankle. I don't like huge tattoos or tattoos of sorority letters themselves (they remind me of name tattoos).

I like it, I do think it should be smaller too! I would get one but I can't decide whether or not I want something that permanent on my body. Also, if I did it would most likely be Phi Mu related, but I'd never do letters or anything like that...unfortunately, I've asked and pink doesn't show up on brown skin. Otherwise I probably would have gotten one already! :(

I concur. I think the symbol, rather than the letters, would be really cute in most cases (I'm thinking Arrows, Keys, Crescents, Dolphins, Kites....), if it's small. I've seen some hillacious roses tatted up the thigh, in my time, and I mean from the knee up the ying-yang.

I'll need to see a pic when you get the squirrel tat, Benz. ;)

My sisters like star tattoos
And one sister got a firebird-looking phoenix tattoo on her shoulder

<hijack> What is up with thigh tattoos?! This girl in my English class had one that was on her upper thigh. It just look really trashy to me. The pictures on her MySpace page just reminded me of a "Rock of Love" reject.

There is one girl at the gym that has her "climbing rose". But, she is an exotic dancer.

When I was chapter advisor, one sister was up for standards, and the province director & I were wondering who would pay for the debrasion of the crest tattoo she had.
