I remember the ZTAs at my school wore white dresses with turquoise sashes. It was very pretty.

You could also do light green dresses. That would be summery.

Does UCLA still allow you do all matching? It won't be hard to find a uniform summer green. You can take some liberty with your colors-- it doesn't have to be specifically "AEPhi Green." Maybe a sleeveless tea length dress in celadon or seafoam, or lime? You can decorate with lemons and limes as centerpieces, if you have any tables. It will look summery and elegant and suitable for daytime, a little retro and very memorable. :)

Hope this helps! Regardless of what color you choose, it will be hot. You may want to consider cutting your outdoor ceremony plans a little short and taking things inside where it is cooler.

I would go for white with a touch of green...if the dress is white, then the sash of the dress could be green or whatnot. But that is just me.

I don't mean it in a 70s bridesmaid way, but how about pastels? Cream, lilac, light green, light blue, gold? (Not sherbety pastels, but grown up pastels)

The reason I bring that up is green on some people looks horrid - if you do go w/ bright green in any way, I would do a variety of looks where it doesn't have to be next to everyone's face. (We had the same issue w/ red.)

At my chapter, we've always worn white dresses during pref, but last year we decided to have dresses made. They were a really pretty sage/olive green with a white "ribbon belt". The pattern we chose has 5 different bodice types and the same skirt. So we all looked similar, but not identical. We ordered the fabric in bulk and the girls paid for it. Then they took the fabric, bought the pattern, and had someone at home make them. It worked great!

Question for chapters that have the same dress/fabric. How much extra do you order? You don't want to be able to distinguish pledge classes based on the variations of the fabric.

My school is switching to daytime pref, and our house is sticking with its usual black cocktail dress. It keeps the seriousness of the ceremony, even if the sunshine takes away from the mood a little.

In the case of an outdoor ceremony, I think white is a good idea. Your members might even appreciate the opportunity to wear those white dresses more than once.

Are daytime pref ceremonies becoming a trend nationwide?

although sentimentally I love a pref ceremony at night, especially outside with the candles under the moon and stars and all, but I can think of a lot of reasons why a daytime pref is a good idea, at least for advisors and alums helping out.

Do collegians like the daytime prefs better?
