Bush isn't a good president but he certainly isnt the worst.
Grant, Johnson, Hoover, and Carter were worse, just to name a few. |

I've both agreed and disagreed with the Bush policies, but for the most part, agree with DeltAlum's above statement.
I find polls such as this irresponsible and too easily skewed to reflect the pollster's interests to take seriously. |
Is the point to taint McCain, do you think?
I mean otherwise what's the point of putting up the figures? We're electing someone else to take over in November; we'll have someone new in office in January. Great, we almost all think he's done a lousy job, but because we think it for different reasons in many cases, I don't think it means very much. It surprises me that Carter wasn't even lower right at the end of his term as the Iran Hostage situation dragged on and Reagan soared in popularity. But I guess that Carter didn't make as many people who identified as members of his own party as angry as Bush does. I think Bush has just managed to do a little something to make almost everyone regard him as incompetent. I don't think he's our worst President ever, by any stretch. But I wouldn't say he's done a particular good job. ETA: why were people so mad at Truman in 1952? |
Carter pretty much wrecked my state's economy during his tenure by approving and promoting confiscatory taxation on domestic production. Prior to that, my family operated a small oil company. Those taxes forced us to sell.
Every time I see one of these efftard politicians pandering re: taxation on the energy industry, I have to wonder if we will ever learn from our mistakes. |

We don't need no stinkin' evidence. Everyone knows that Bush wrecked the economy. That's good enough for me. |
