a sweet guy (not necessarily a bf) to accompany you to functions & formals, who gets along with your sisters, won't get too rowdy, and won't piss you off.

Too bad you can't buy those at Tiffany's!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Ok ok! As a part time sweet guy (I moonlight on weekends), and in my attempts to organize all of us into a union so we can get more respect (I feel like Rodney Dangerfield), I resent that comment http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif.

Accompany . . . conditions . . . sounds like we aren't a necessity but rather an accessory! Because ofcourse we need to match your outfit also. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif

If you don't take us more seriously, us sweet guys (the meek that have been promised the earth), might go on strike and break all the rules http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif:

1. We won't talk until 2am (yet again) about the boy that's been mean to you forever.

2. We'll tell you are not doing the right thing and things won't be ok.

3. We'll answer that the black cocktail dress makes you look like you gained 10 pounds . . . twenty minutes before your formal. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif

4. We'll sart dating all your friends and available sisters (family included). http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/cool.gif

And just to be fair . . .

Necessities that a guys needs(in no particular order):

1. Grill

2. Long sharp objects

3. A car stereo more expensive than the car

4. Every item or piece of paper we have ever come across in our lives hoarded like a pack rat.

5. Tools (even if don't know how to use them)

6. Road maps (because we can't ask for directions)

7. a Remote control . . .

Did I miss anything?

ROFLMAO, James! That is too funny - and TRUE about the guy's needs. I also like the "sweet guy's revenge" list. That is too good!

I am laughing about this whole thread though, because I was poor in college. I mean my parents helped me out, and I had declining balance for a meal plan instead of standard - and that was considered to be pretty good! I didn't wear Bebe pants or carry Kate Spade bags...never owned a thing from Tiffany's --- but did borrow a few clothes from my sister Tiffany. I think every sorority girl's necessity is having a place to call home when you are far away from yours. My sisters were my only necessity since anything I ever really needed I got from them!

Greek Cutie 12-26-2000 07:10 PM

This is such a fun topic. I have a bunch of stuff to add!!!

~a light-colored (semi-tight) shirt to go with the black pants
~perfume to spray on after going to the clubs because noone likes to smell like cigarettes
~a brush
~cameras to capture the fun moments with your sisters
~fun CD's to listen to in the car on your way to wherever you are going

AlphaChiGirl 12-26-2000 09:47 PM

MAC or Hard Candy lipstick...the only brands I've seen that stay on for a really long time. I've found REALLY good deals on them (I'm talking 1-2 dollars a TUBE).

I understand that these posts could be misconstrued as stereotypically superficial. That certainly wasn't the intent. I hope no one who reads this will see us as superficial, shallow, snobs. If they do, their loss.

NUMBER #1.
The phone number of a sober sister to call at any hour if she ever needs a ride!

JAMES - you are just the greatest. I always love your posts, and I am now vowing to let my "sweet guys" know before the New Year how much I appreciate them and adore them.

Ladies... I just HATE to do this... since I have made a personal vow never to mix business with my GreekChat addiction, especially in a shameless self-promotion kind of way... but this is TOPICAL! I would be remiss if I didn't let my fellow Greek sisters know about this. I have one of these myself, but with my monogram instead of letters.

Check out this Tiffany-style bracelet - it comes with your letters, is solid sterling, and I guarantee you that NO-ONE will know where it... ahem... didn't come from. Oh, and it's about 1/3 of the Tiffany price!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Where on earth did you find this stuff for such a cheap price? I love MAC and Hard Candy, but I hate paying so much for them

MIDWESTDIVA 12-28-2000 03:31 PM

AlphaChiGirl,

Where are you finding MAC lipstick at that price? I don't care if I look superficial or not. Everybody knows divas NEED lipstick. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

There's a cosmetics outlet about 30 mins from where I live (in Northern Florida). Right around inventory, they'll have a huge sale where they're practically giving away tubes. That was for MAC...Where I go to school (in Rhode Island), a boutique was closing, and they were selling Hard Candy products (lipstick, eyeshadow, nail polish) for like, 75% off list price. I don't NORMALLY buy at these prices, but when I can find them, I stock up. And yes, divas DO NEED LIPSTICK!

Is the cosmetics outlet you're talking about at the outlet mall in Foley, AL?

What part of North Florida are you from? My family and I travel to that area (Perdido Key, Panama City Beach, etc) quite frequently.

AlphaChiGirl 01-05-2001 03:48 PM

Actually, I wasn't talking about the cosmetics outlet in Foley...I go to the outlet in Destin (where I live).

To add to the list...cell phone holder, colorful tops to go w/ the black pants, bottled water (sorry), the list goes on. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Hootie 01-06-2001 12:01 AM

Okay here's my list (superficial sounding or not)
1. Floss - I can't stand it when I have things stuck in my teeth or others!
2. Chapstick - who doesn't need chapstick?!
3. Travel Size perfum -for when you and your sisters need to freshen up from dancing too much
4. Kleenex's -for those sisterhood moments
5. Mase (you never know!)
6. Super hold hairspray - Formal
7. Strand of pearls - Composites

SigTauJake 01-06-2001 05:29 PM

Well Ladies, all of these make for a great sorority girl, but you forgot the most important of all things. A Sig Tau on your arm. That completes the look you are all going for. So go out there and get yourselves one today.....

juniorgrrl 01-09-2001 12:36 AM

When everyone was talking about the Tiffany's heart bracelet, I had no clue what ya'll meant - it had been years since I had seen a catalogue. When I looked at the picture on Texas Alum's site, I realized what it looked like...

Well, yesterday, I found a *perfect* copy in TJ Maxx for $20!!! Sterling silver and all. I'm so proud of my shopping find http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
