I wasn't trying to offend you or start drama. Just be reading your post, I was able to narrow down who this chapter likely was and this could reflect badly on your chapter as well as that one.

Anyway, congrats again on Sigma Kappa. Come over to the forum and introduce yourselves and jump right in on our conversations.

ETA: I'll edit my own post and take out your quote as well to avoid further unnecessary information.

Sorry I keep posting random stuff but after re-reading my post I was kind of concerned about the way I came off in my story. After reading it I was like oh my gosh I sound like a stuck up conceited girl. I just wanted yall to know that going into recruitment my attitude was never "I only want Vera because thats the only sorority good enough for me" or anything like that. It was more "Gosh I want to be a part of those girls so bad. They have been so nice to me for the past semester and I really hope they like me." I have always had self confidence issues even though I know I am really lucky with everything in my life. So when Vera Bradley built my hopes up for a whole semester and then didn't give me a bid it really broke me. Its like if you have been dating a guy for a while and things are going Excellent (ie: talking engagement excellent) and then one night for no reason he dumps you! Thats honestly how it felt! I just wish they would have let me down easier! Its like Have some mercy people! :-)

That said, please realize that the "Vera Bradley" who told you to suicide, saying that you were already as good as a sister, committed a very serious recruitment infraction. Even if you decide against reporting it, be sure to remind YOUR sisters about how badly that can hurt someone!
I know what they did was horrible and I found out that I wasn't even the only girl that this happened to. Since our campus is so small and there is deferred rush, unfortunately these rush infractions happen a lot. I know I should have reported it, but at the time I didn't want to cause any more drama and I had also heard that another girl who experienced this reported them so I didnt even bother. But our chapter really stressed the importance of not promising girls bids no matter what the circumstance because you really never know what will happen. :-)

And its okay you didnt offend me :-) Im really glad you pointed it out actually! I was "heat of the moment" posting and typed everything that came to mind (notice the horrible spelling) and I really should have been more vague hah!

I enjoyed this thread and your experience.

It is very true to life when it comes to recruitment. There are always issues like this that arise and it is important that we discuss and acknowledge them, so that they do happen less frequently. Your story helps others in the long run.

I do hope you are happy!

Thanks for sharing SouthernBelle52. I think this is a story many girls will enjoy reading and will help many who may experience what you experienced.
