El Campeon is the hardest course I've played in Florida, its in the middle of nowhere though. You must have grown up way out in the sticks.

Savannah would be WAY too far away. It is 2 hours away from Jacksonville. I think Jax is more reasonable.

Amelia Island Plantation, near Jacksonville, has a couple of nice resorts, and the beach is gorgeous.
