It was in Tampa a few years ago, and it caused quite a stir. Charlie Crist then Attorney General( Now Governor and potential VP running mate) acutally banned the exihibt for a while. Then after like a week of being delayed it was allowed to be on display.
I didn't go as it just grossed me out. Not my kind of thing. |
I went to BODIES: The Exhibition when it was in Seattle a couple years ago and everyone there seemed to think it was fascinating. I didn't hear any "Ewwwwwwwww!"s, even from the kids that were there. It isn't gross - it's the way your body looks underneath your skin!
On the other hand, I thought the way they were displayed in the Body Works/Worlds exhibit in Casino Royale (around a poker table, etc.) was tacky and seemed to make a mockery of the human body. |
Ew. Will not go see the Bodies exhibit or anything like this. EWWW
|
Ok...i have to ask for every one that has said 'eeewww' what are your reasons?
|
Has anyone watched the 60 minutes (or was it 20/20) show about BW? It is believed that the bodies are executed prisoners from China, and NOT bodies donated to science. Creepy.

I went last time it was in Houston. I thought it was fascinating. However, anything to do with the baby fetuses I found a bit sad. I think my favorite part of the exhibit was a chicken that had everything removed but its blood vessels.

It came to Discovery Place here in Charlotte. We were there on the last day of its run. My friend wanted to go, so she went in and took my son, and the daughter and I looked at other things. I can't handle dead things. If my cat catches a mouse and my husband's not home, I will make my dad drive over here and get rid of it, as I hide in the farthest room in the house away from it.

I think when you die, you're just a shell at that point. I adored the man hanging from the still rings in the Iron Cross with all the muscles splayed out. The human body truly is a wonder. BUT IT WAS SO HOT IN THE EXHIBIT. We went December 26th, abnormally warm for a Boston night, and I decided to wear my new thick pink wool cardie from Old Navy and practically passed out from overheating. Damn. I'd go again though. Absolutely. I am a nerd for all things medical. I think I could pass the NCLEX-RN just by helping my mother review for it. Medicine fascinates me. Plus, it's unlikely I'll get to do gross anatomy in medical school and dissect a cadaver so the exhibit is as close as I can get. |
