I spent 18 days in Kiev in high school - i had a blast, it's crazy seeing buildings older than the nation you're from. plus nightlife is amazing there - basically it's just an amazing city overall

Costa Rica -- my hubby and I went there for our honeymoon. We did a totally cool package though -- the first 3 days were adventure based -- we went whitewater rafting, swinging through the very tops of the rainforest trees; hiking in the rainforests; bathing in the fresh mineral mud from the bottom of a volcano -- including the bath in the natural hot springs -- watching a volcano erupt while sitting in the natural springs at the bottom (well very far down the bottom - we didn't want to melt!) -- as well as having individual log cabins with a huge picture window from which you could lay in bed and watch the volcano erupting throughout the night -- beat any fireworks show I've ever seen (and I ain't talking about....well nevermind! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif)
Then the last 4 days they transported us to a full service resort -- everything included -- which was fab-o-las! (Except the breakfast meal which always included fresh octopus -- uuuggghhh -- and the Spanish theme dinner which included pig head -- uuuugggghhhhhh again!) But I must say, if I had it to do again, which I hopefully will, the adventure stuff was THE BEST. And it was all relatively cheap -- a whole week with all expenses paid for about $1400 per person. And -- Costa Rican Rum is the smoothest drink. Guado sours -- uhm uhm uhm -- there's a reason they tell you not to drink in a hot tub -- same applies for the natural hot tub of a hot spring at the bottom of a volcano -- I don't really remember a whole lot from that night http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif! |
I'd have to say it's a three way tie. In no particular order:
1) Quebec City: Went in HS and spent time in the city's suburbs. Very cool! 2) Boston: I love it up there. I just love the history and architecture of Beacon Hill. 3) Osage Beach, MO: I am in love with that lake! I want to rent a beach house there next summer! I stayed at the Marriott Tan-Tar-A resort and fell in love with the view, the breeze off the water. |
More about Chile,
They have this very potent liquor called "Pisco" and its made from the peal of a grape. It has the color of white wine but its liquor. They use it to mix with all kinds of things. Pisco with sour mix, frozen or on the rocks tastes pretty good. Coke or Ginger Ale and Pisco is another. Its got a lime taste to it. They also have orange beer there(Orange Shoppe) that you can get on tap at the restaurants there. Sounds like it would taste bad but its not too bad at all. Puerto Rico is pretty cool too. My younger brother got married there about 2 years ago. Thats where the Bacardi Factory is. The rainforrest there is awesome. They have hiking trails through it. They have this singing frog there that says "cokee". No Joke. Kevin [This message has been edited by Miami1839 (edited January 31, 2001).] |
The Canary Island off of Spain - i guess they call it the "Florida" of Europe as in a quick getaway spot for many Europeans. The best part is sitting in a cafe and have someone speaking German on one side of you, another in French and someone from England bringing you your drinks. I loved all the accents!

new orleans. being from nebraska...well, there isn't a lot of culture up here. so going to new orleans and walking down bourbon street and shopping in the french market...it was all quite an experience. plus the city is just saturated in history and beauty. too bad i love nebraska...i'd move to new orleans in a heartbeat.

Out of the US--has to be Cancun. I remember going there in 1993 when I was 14, drinking Coronas for the first time, having a huge crush on this 30 year old from Toronto who first introduced me to the Barenaked Ladies.
In the US--Cape Cod. After my HS graduation my then BF and his family invited me to their summer house on Mashnee Island. I was in awe at the beauty of the homes on the shore and I fell in love with it right away. BTW, if I can go to Atlanta for Convention this year I hope to visit Stone Mountain. I hear their laser show's pretty awesome and they're supposed to have a great fireworks disply for the 4th of July! ------------------ "Talk doesn't cook rice."--Someone smart Visit Alpha Gamma Delta-Delta Sigma chapter! |
