I don't know what school you're at. I'm a KSU alumna (and current grad student), which is a school most people would consider to be commuter with a rather small greek community.

As far as your age and marriage, it could end up being an issue because the sororities like for girls to be able to live in the houses. They may think you wouldn't be able to live-in due to being married. There have been older girls who got bids, but I don't think they were married.

My advice: Don't hide the fact that you are married or 24. Be yourself. I can't predict whether you'll get a bid or not but there's no harm in trying. If nothing else, you'll meet some new people.

Thank you for the info. I spoke with the greek life office today at school and I asked a few questions about greek life on our campus. She said the houses on campus only can house 20-25 girls and most of the sororities have around 70 members. She also said my age wouldn't be a problem, but said depending on the chapter my marital status might be because some nationals dont allow active members to be married, but she said the majority of them are not like that. I also asked about how competitve recruitment is at our school and she said it is competitive but the majority of the women who participate in the process will be placed and that it is important to keep an open mind when participating. She also said, I believe that you could find a place with a sorority. I would encourage you to participate in the recruitment process. After speaking with her, I feel a little more confident about all this. :)

I think you should give it a try. Recruitment is an opportunity to check out sorority life.

This was my only thought when reading your posts. While in school, one of my sisters got married over the summer, and I remember one of my friends in another sorority remarking "Doesn't she have to alum?". The answer for Theta was no, but apparently you have to take alum status in some sororities if you are married. Just something to do your research on.

Thank you! I will definitely be doing some research.

ADPi doesn't have am Inatl policy regarding married members or pnm's. We encourage each individual chapter to determine their own policy. Therefore it can vary from campus to campus.
