Sending prayers here as well.

Seatbelts do save lives. I have been hit by a semi and by a bronco. But both times all people in the car were wearing seatbelts- and walked away unscathed.

My sincere sympathy and prayers to all those touched by this tragedy.

May people start to realize that everyone needs to wear their seatbelt, not just the other people.

Hello all Greeks! That is the facebook group for the ladies of KD at GSU. They are updating pretty reguarly about Jamie's condition.

Just as a reminder... we are all brothers and sisters... no matter what letters we wear!

Keeping them in my thoughts.

my prayers go out the chapter and the families.

TriDPrincess 02-12-2008 02:07 AM

My prayers are being sent to the families of all the girls. I'll also be praying for a miracle with regards to Jaime.

SthrnZeta 02-12-2008 11:11 AM

Magan, thanks for posting that - I joined the FB group and I'm glad they're updating so often!

Another Car Involved...?

Two bits that shocked me from the following piece: there was another car involved in the accident and they are searching for the driver. AND one of the victim's fathers died in a car accident when she was only 3 and she will be laid to rest next to him. :(

There was alot of trepidation in my heart when I read about these three young KD's. I felt really bad for everyone involved, because I know firsthand what a chapter goes through when it loses one of its members.

One summer I called one of my sorority sisters to see how she was doing and she informed me that one of my sisters had been in a car accident and had been killed. I was in another state and no one called me. Another girl from another chapter on campus had been seriously injured, but she was expected back for recruitment that year, with newly-cut bangs to cover the scars from stitches on her forehead.

I know how I felt back then and I still think of this girl occasionally. I also know how it affected the whole chapter-everyone goes into a mourning phase. I watched it really affect her closest friends in the house. Her parents sent a grandfather clock to the chapter with a memorial plaque on it. My prayers are with Jamie and with the chapter. Some bleak days are ahead as this chapter copes with its loss. However, these two girls will always remain within the hearts of the sisters that loved them. There is no icon for tears.

It's an event that's within the group on facebook... tomorrow wear green and white to show support for the Ga. Southern KD's

Ktbug...I wanted to PM you but you have it deactivated. As a physician who is constantly reminded of HIPAA and people's right to privacy, I urge you to be a little more general about Jamie's condition on a public forum. I know you mean well, but since Jamie isn't able to consent to having her private medical information released, it is probably in her best interest to say the types of things they generally release to the media such as "She is in stable condition." That's just my opinion, and I am in no way condeming your vigilence. I hope the treatment they give her will help her improve. This is truly a tragedy.

nittanyalum 02-12-2008 11:05 PM

^^^I'll co-sign on this, I think you're putting out way too much personal medical information on this girl, the facebook group is available for anyone who wants to join, but I'd prefer to just read that the doctors think she's improving, her friends and family are with her, she's moved from intensive to another care floor or whatever general things are going on, etc... Please feel free to spare us the more specific (and personal) medical info. Please.

twinkle555 02-13-2008 04:06 AM

so sad

This is so tragic. :( Its hard to see such beautiful ladies my own age pass like this. I have seen first hand how hard it is for a chapter to lose one of its own (for those who dont know/remember, we had a DG pass away this past Sept. here). Im keeping all the KDs in my thoughts and wishing Jamie all the best.

Alpha love

KD Girl 02-13-2008 01:17 PM

My thoughts and prayers are with you Jamie!
