Which was how to get in good with a sorority so they will consider you for AI, without making it look like the only reason you're getting in good with them is so they will AI you.

Any ideas, anyone?

I suggest you contact Epsilon Sigma Alpha or one of the other community based sororities and become involved with one of those. It will give you the sisterhood that you want as well as the community service that you want.

I'm still trying to get over the fact that she is still IN college and is pursuing AI. I'm assuming that she is either:
(a) at a school with zero greek life
(b) at a school who would not have accepted her interest in greek life earlier this year as a Fall senior
(c) got her heart set on a specific group that wouldn't pledge seniors like her last fall

What was it that kept her from joining greek life as a freshman (assuming (a) doesn't apply)?

Or maybe she just decided she would be a perfect XYZ last week?

RIF, girl.

FWIW, from reading her other posts, her college does not have Greek life, so it's not like she rushed and got rejected from a sorority that she "dreamed of being in", picked the "Wrong one" etc etc.

LilacLove, if you do decide to approach a sorority for AI, they will want to know what you want out of membership other than participating in their national philanthropy. For example, membership in ADPi is not required to volunteer with and donate to the Ronald McDonald House.

Nothing against Epsilon Sigma Alpha, but I get the feeling that that organization might not be (good?) enough for the OP. (not at you, ForeverRoses)

My question is, do you think it would be weird to contact them about volunteer opportunities for non-members?

Yes. Very much so.

Gah! And yeah, I hadn't read through all of her posts from other threads (namely, her post #1) that reveals exactly my question. Thanks.

AlphaFrog 01-17-2008 04:11 PM

Post #1, for those who missed it.

That's it. I really need to stick to ChitChat.

I am sick of people asking for advice three different places and then not taking the advice! If what you really want is affirmation for your plan, then just say so. Don't phrase it in the form of a question; This isn't Jeopardy!

LOL LOL

In her first post, she proclaimed that she had read the AI forum over. Why was she then surprised that people tried to steer her away from AI?? And, I know she said that she "remembered why she left GC in the first place", but there was not one snarky remark in her first thread, despite the face that she announced she had read the forum and proceeded to tell us about persuing AI anyway.

$10 says she got a PM for HPRL then and now.

Thanks to all who have been helpful.

She hates us. See, she said so. ^^^^
