ETA: I think the reason I have earlier dates is becuase both Beta Phi Alpha and Theta Upsilon had some incarnations as "clubs" prior to becoming a sorority and taking on letters. |

If you add the defunct groups to the list:
1 32 University of Illinois ** 2 29 University of California, Los Angeles Miami University 4 28 Ohio State University 5 27 Pennsylvania State University Syracuse University 7 26 University of California, Berkley Indiana University ** It could be 33 because Delta Sigma Epsilon had a colony at Illinois when the merger with Delta Zeta took place. I don't know if it was chartered first or was just absorbed in as pledges. Maybe someone can shed some light. |
As a Penn State Alum, can I also add that we do not have currently
-Alpha Sigma Tau (except at PSU Altoona) -Theta Phi Alpha (except at PSU Berks) -Delta Phi Epsilon -Phi Sigma Sigma -Alpha Gamma Delta I just graduated in May but, if you look at the Penn State NPC site you will notice it looks as though we have more NPCs because we allowed Alpha Phi Omega's sister sorority Omega Phi Alpha join us, along with Phi Sigma Rho (engineering sorority) and I think Gamma Sigma Sigma joined, as well. We used to have all of the above sororities at Penn State (I looked through some old yearbooks in our sorority suite and saw we did) but, because of low membership in some of them-they were dissolved on our campus....I would like to see all of them come back to Penn State (University Park), though.....we have too many chapters struggling (numbers wise) because only a small percentage of PSU is Greek (like 11% of the entire campus).... |

Phi Sigma Sigma does not list a chapter ever at Indiana University, Bloomington. Perhaps it was a colony that did not survive to chartering. However, they do list charters at IU Southeast, South Bend & Kokomo. Perhaps a Phi Sig could enlighten us.
