Then stay out of his R.I.P thread and work on making sure you're absolutely perfect by the time your obituary comes around.

Right. I don't think any Ike Turner reports presented him as a great philanthropist entertainer with no criminal and abusive history. Acknowledgement accomplished, moving on.

There are unfamous women and men with abusive and troubled pasts who are allowed to somehow redeem themselves everyday.

There are lots of "terrible human beings" out there who have made contributions to their respective fields. James Watson is one. Ike Turner happens to be another one.

Seriously, I don't think anyone is overlooking his abusive past...especially considering it's usually in the first paragraph of most of the obits I've read of him since yesterday.

I won't say that I'm perfect, but my Obit will contain line regarding my fundraising efforts for the Victims of Domestic Violence.

As would a lot of obits.

But is there anything you've done that would overshadow your fundraising efforts? That would depend on who your earthly, self-appointed, judgers are.

Can't think of any, unless you count my old speeding tickets.

Actually, I do hope he rests in peace. He can't harm any more women where he is going.

Stop, just stop. You obviously aren't a mortal since you are so perfect. I'm so glad there is no one on the planet that can say anything negative about you.

Right! I'm not a fan of innuendo.

As others have said, as a musician Ike very talented and made great contributions...as a human being, I hope that he has made his peace with himself and God and rests in peace.

Makes me wonder if anyone had anything BAD to say about Mother Theresa or the Pope when they died...

All of us are born into sin...and none of us will ever be perfect...deal with it.

trying to think...how does that saying go....?

You're correct, none of us are perfect but Ike Turner was a terrible person. Theres a difference between having a few problems and brutally beating your wife, cheating on her openly, and going to jail twice a year. If I ever become as terrible of a person as Ike then I pray that people will say bad things about me when I pass. Then again, I have a sense of accountability.

PhiGam i like where your head is. Ike Turner was not a good person and neither is Bobby Brown or any other wife beater. But then again I'm sure the hippie, left-wing people that seem to infest this forum will have some sort of excuse for the reason why Bobby beat Whitney when he dies. Some people can take accountability for their actions but it takes someone with character to do that.

What is WITH you two??

The logic of hippie, left-wingers justifying abuse doesn't add up with what "hippie and left-wing" entail.

But I guess being a southernfrat means you wouldn't know about class and gender power and prestige and what happens when it is misused by people like the right-wing conservatives.

See why labels are so categorically presumptuous and dumb?

*************
Ike Turner wasn't a good person as it relates to the things that he's reported to have done. That's all I know about him personally. Professionally, I see his works and say R.I.P to a creative person. Just that simple. I'll try not to stalk his grave site or adopt an alternate personality named "Ike" so I can live my life and record an album.
