This is so sad. I'm was so shook when i found out. UGK is one of my favorite music groups/artists/rappers/whatever you wanna call it. Bun B has always been my favorite rapper, but you can't have Bun without the Pimp. When I first found out (through a text message when i was at work), I hoped it was some stupid rumor, but then i got home only to find it was true. It really didnt fully hit me untill i listened online to the houston radio station and heard people like David Banner and Yung Joc call in and talk about him. And then I finally realized it was real.
For those who have not heard of him or don't know who he is, UGK are rap legends in the south. People like Lil Wayne, Outkast, David Banner, Juvinlle, Jeezy, T.I., (the list goes on) all look up to UGK. Most people who aren't farmiliar with them most likely know them from Jay Z's "Big Pimpin" but they were big in the south way before then. They have made music with anyone who is anyone in the south and even some "up north" rappers. People really respected them and the hip hop community is really feeling this loss right now. It was reported that Bun B would not talk to anyone yesterday and today was quoted by MTV saying, "[Pimp C's] genius was unparalleled. His passion was undeniable and his love was unmatched. To say that I lost a friend or brother would never do justice to the relationship we shared. I will never be the same again." For those who do know Pimp and Bun and love their music, you know where I'm coming from. |
