It sounds to me like this is something you are just trying to "make up" as you will...without a real historical or cultural tie in to your organization. If this is the case, why bother with "choosing a line name"? Surely, your new members will be able to function just fine without "line names".
I am almost 17 years in my Sorority and I don't plaster my line name all over my para at this stage in my life. The only sorority sisters who care/will care are those who follow the legacy of my initiating chapter and those who I personally have a hand in making. |

Prior to joining GC, my knowledge of terms used by NPHC and cultural-based Greek orgs. was very limited as my campus did not have any of them. |

a line name is a name given to a pledge at the end of their pledge process/intake period. the name tends to describe the pledge as they were during that time, or their personality, or something that is relevant to that chapter. traditionally, NPHC orgs give/use line names, but i believe Latino/Asian/multicultural greeks use them too. (ETA: ok, most of them, if not all, do. i recall KPL, for instance, not having line names, but names nonetheless, in the fashion of NPC orgs) im sure NPC/IFC orgs give nicknames and what not in similar fashion, but it may not be the standard practice. i believe what many posters are getting at in reference to the OP is that she wants names that "sound cool and look good on a jacket." line names mean a lot more to people who have/earn them than the name "sounding/looking cool." furthermore, since we dont know the girls to be named, it would be hard for us to suggest anything. if anything, if the OP cant think of a name for these girls, she should a. not be naming them, and b. learn something about them so she could name them c. should she be naming them at all? |

To the OP: A good idea would be "Your Name Here" on the back of someone's jacket or hoodie. If you all live the high principles of sisterhood, it would become a great recruitment tool. |

Well aside from all of the super bitchy replies, which I see are common on here, I already had spoken to my chapter and I had a few that I was thinking of but maybe I should have been more clear with what I wanted and I have no idea how other organizations choose theirs but for us we try to have it be pretty meaningful but what I was looking for was more of a theme to choose from. Anyway I figured them out a while ago and they fit perfectly. There should be a forum on here though for why everyone on here always answers everything so defensively, instead of trying to help people there is nothing but sarcasm and immaturity
