Not to mention she'd be a risk management nightmare...

Because the author is a Kappa.

I don't think Maryln Schwartz is a Kappa.

I saw an interview with her when the book first came out (the one with Princess Margaret), and she said then that she was a Kappa. Of course, she could have been lying, but that's from the horse's mouth.

I looked in my directories and didn't see her name, but that's no guarantee. I haven't been able to get to the national site for a couple of days, so I can't check online (wonder what's going on?). I just don't remember anything in any issues of The Key about her being a member--I haven't seen her listed as a famous alum either. Maybe she has Kappa friends or family members?

Plus - it sounds good!

She also mentioned that she was divorced - could there be another last name, or a nom de plume?

Once I can get to the national site, I can look under her 1st name and get back to y'all.

The Kappa web server must be down because I can't get into it today either. I could on Thursday because I had to look up someone.

Hmmm, I got the same results....

I guess it's kind of strange that a northern founded sorority is considered Southern, when the opposite is somewhat the case for DG. For example, Delta Gamma was founded in Mississippi...and it's not usually mentioned in the first few names of sororities when people are referring to "Southern Sororities"

i.e. they'll usually name Phi Mu, ADPi, and XO first, before they mention Delta G. Who knows, maybe Georgia and Arkansas are considered more "Southern'y" than Mississippi. <shrug>

And...I'd give a bid to Princess Margaret before I'd bid Paris. Margaret's only gaffe (that I know of) was smoking while standing up (oh horrors!!), which I think is forgivable.

Scandia 10-14-2007 08:10 AM

From what I have read, while Princess Elizabeth was (and is) very prim and proper, Princess Margaret liked partying and got into trouble more often.

Maybe that is why they put her in the title.

But I do not think that she got into trouble with the law like Paris Hilton did.

Back to the book - are the pictures updated? I have the original book, and the pictures are very 80s.

MSKKG 10-14-2007 01:25 PM

It's working now. There was only one "Maryln" that popped up. It didn't concern me that neither her maiden nor last name was listed as "Schwartz" because "Schwartz" could be a pen name. She does live in Texas, but her occupation has nothing to do with journalism/writing. No one popped with the last name of "Schwartz" with the occupations of journalism, publishing, or writing. I just don't think the author of the book is a Kappa.
