I forgot the other quintessential Irish Rovers song - Wasn't That a Party ("Could have been the whiskey, might have been the gin, could of have been the 3, 4 6-pack, I don't know, but look at the mess I'm in. My head is like a football, I think I'm gonna die, saying me-oh me-oh my, wasn't that a party...")

The favorites when I was in school were "Why Don't We Get Drunk (and Screw)" and "You Never Even Called Me by My Name (The Perfect Country and Western Song)", which is one of my all-time favorites. At a bar that played oldies..."Mack the Knife" and "My Girl". Gawd, I'm old.

No fighter squadron bar - ahem, 'heritage room' is complete with a bunch of drunken fighter jocks singing:

Glorious, Victorious
Throw A Nickel In The Grass (Save A Fighter Pilot's Ass)

The list degenerates from there... :D

[QUOTE=MysticCat;1535262]When I read the thread title, I figured that was the catagory -- Irish and British pub songs. Pub=British/Irish to me, while bar=American.

I'll add these pub songs to the list:

She Was Poor but She Was Honest
I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts
My Old Man's a Dustman

I honestly didn't think anyone else out in GreekChat land would know these songs.

You don't give the GC music majors enough credit.;)

Oh, and MysticCat knows everything about everything, and make that triple when it comes to music.:p

Your wife can rest assured, knowing everything is different from being RIGHT.

A man can know everything there is to know, and still loose an argument to a woman.:p

California Girls by the Beach Boys.

My son's band just recorded a punk/ska tune called "Denied in the Jacuzzi"
...stay tuned...if they ever make it big it's sure to be a pub song....very popular in our neighborhood at the moment....

You reminded me of another one:

(You've Lost) That Lovin' Feelin'

Always a favorite.

Some have been said already, but here's my list:

Margaritaville
Sweet Home Alabama
Family Tradition
You Never Even Call Me By My Name - David Allen Coe (CLASSIC!)
Naked Sorority Girls -Palo Alto, just 'cause it was such a true song -- Thanks, Jim... The song is still hilarious.

Munchkin03 10-09-2007 11:15 PM

Lots of repeats, but here goes:

Sweet Home Alabama
American Pie
Sweet Caroline
You Shook Me All Night Long
Friends in Low Places (this was my chapter's Last Call song)
The Joker

Jimmy Choo 10-09-2007 11:19 PM

"Friends In Low Places"
"Margaritaville"
"Family Tradition" (complete with the commentary the AF described! :) )
"Sweet Home Alabama"
"The Joker"
"Closing Time" (well.... we might not have known all the words but we all loved the line "I know who I want to take me home")
