well, i have a hispanic name.....i wonder if that corrective eye surgery would help me blend in in south america. |

Then you'd have to make sure you don't act "too Hispanic" so that people don't think you aren't a born citizen. Either that or move to a Sanctuary State so you can do whatever you please. |

i've already been labeled as a sellout. |

Filipino turned Hispanic. People in ATL will like you less than people in Miami. Be prepared. :D |

Going back to OP, would you really want to be a part of that organization if this is a legit concern?

I would say you have bigger issues to focus on than whether a sorority is going to take you, if you're making comments like this about yourself. :( |

I think people should do what they feel is right, rather what society deems correct. |
Ah, you all, you could probably ease up.
Do you imagine the OP really has a problem being a junior too? It's pretty clear that she was asking about things that the groups could potentially see as problems during recruitment. And as much as we hope race and ethnicity aren't even going to be issues and know they shouldn't be in terms of GLO policies, who among us can be absolutely sure they won't be? I agree with others who have posted that they don't think being Asian will be an issue, but it's a reasonable question. If you've ever read some of the "fratty" forums, you'd know that some idiots are still interested in discriminating. |
