I just saw this post and thought I'd mention as a UGA alum:

It's very hard as a transfer at UGA. In the spring, very few houses participate in recruitment and those that do typically don't have a large number of spaces available. If you're transferring in the spring, I would spend the semester getting to know the campus and Athens and making contacts with the Greeks you already know.

Make sure you've got recommendations nailed down since you'll be rushing in the fall as a junior. If you keep your mind open to all 17 options and prepare yourself as much as possible, then you'll have done all you can to have the best experience possible.

Best of luck!

First off, CONGRATULATIONS on getting into UGA!!!

Secondly, a lot of what everybody has been saying is completely true get to know a couple of sisters in the chapters there. If you have any in your classes, talk to them ask them what they like about their sorority etc... A bunch of the girls there are really sweet and will answer your questions for you, *i went to school with quite a few of the girls who are in sororities at UGA*

They have all said the same thing though, is the week of recruitment *normally the week before school starts* DO NOT HANG OUT on Milledge or Lumpkin streets unless you are attending the parties because M & L are known as Greek Row.

Anyways, GOOD LUCK at UGA!! You'll enjoy it I promise!

and just one more tip of advice that has absolutely nothing to do with sororities, when student tickets go on sale for football.. GET THEM ASAP!!!! Saturdays during the fall are a ton of fun.
