They did indeed. That was a great game!

I was reading today that the Yankees combined salaries are 3 times of the Indians (Cleveland has the 2nd lowest salary total in the AL). The Yankees have 10 players receiving $10million + per year, with 3 over $20 mm. The Indians highest paid player is CC making $8.75 mm per year. The Padres only have one player at $10mm.

I hate to see Steinbrenner buy his team that way. I think he is still mad that he couldn't buy the Indians back in the 70s. Greed typically isn't a trait of Cleveland natives.

I guess you have not read the papers this year-Boss George is not running the team.

And the Yanks have the money to spend any way that they wish to.

Just between merchandise and YES=$$$$$$

Add in new stadium.....

Sports (most sports) have not been pure sports in years. More like entertainment+business+sport=money.

We could start a whole thread on this but lets try to keep this thread "pure" to OP's starting point.

For me it hurt like hell.

But then, you know, apparently I'm not a true Met fan. :p

To go off topic for a moment: As a sports/entertainment/event mgmnt major, I've realized there are two ways to look at sports:

From a business POV
From a fans POV

These two are almost always very different from each other. While both wants to win (most of the time) they are very different in other aspects.

Just something to think about :)

I'm sorry for the Mets--I truly am. A friend of mine who ironically lives in NYC is a great big Phillies fan and I was really glad for him that they came back in a big way.

Ha ha, don't be sorry for the Mets-- they played like crap coming down the stretch. Be sorry for us fans who stood by them faithfully and got our hearts ripped out as we watched them go down in flames.

Yeah, I am a real fan actually, and I am NOT a Philly fan now. But let's get real: if the Phillies do well in post-season, it's good for the NL East. My loyalties are, and always will be, to the Mets... but the Mets blew it and won't see October. Frankly, I don't really care now who wins the WS, but if I had to root for someone, why not let it be the NL East team that did make it? It's called going out with dignity and class, instead of just being immature and saying, "F*** the Phillies," even if that is how I feel inside.

Do you have a mullet? Do you wear Twisted Sister concert shirts?

You are not a real Mets fan unless you answer yes to both questions.

I'm laughing. It's the same for the white sox. I swear I always shame my head at the crowd.

Thanks for making me laugh today. My answer to both questions is "no" by the way. ;)

Last I checked, that was the exact opposite of the definition of a bandwagon fan.

You cheered them on when they did well and then didn't when they didn't do well.
