Newbie: You must be psychic girl, because I was thinking of posting something simliar! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
My name is Aimée, pronounced A-may. Its French for Amy and means "beloved." I have always felt my life would be different had I been named something "easier." On the playground, etc, my introductions were always met with "A-what? Huh?" rather than "nice to meet you." I hate introducing myself to people because I hate to have to say my name and teach them the pronunciation. It always leaves me feeling self conscious because my name is "wierd." Since I've gotten to college, I let most people call me Amy, because its just too much trouble to teach 5 or 6 professors every semester how to say my name, plus classmates that I'll never see again. When I have a daughter, I'm going to name her something that's unique but not difficult to pronounce. :P |
Hehe, thanks SoCalGirl and Carrot http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif. Carolyn One was pretty cute, looking back, LOL. On the playground, the boys would always sing that song while the other Carolyn and I walked by http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif. And, the funny thing is, I kept on trying to make the boys call me 'Cara'! The other Carolyn wanted to be 'Carrie.' http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
SoCalGirl, I like the nickname Carebear, too! I used to have a collection of their books, as well as a tape of their songs. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Plus, I had a blue Carebear (don't know what his name was, though!). I was also a huge Rainbow Brite fan http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif. I had a mini table with chairs that had Rainbow Brite on it! Plus, I had a bed comforter with her on it, too. Plus I liked strawberry Shortcake http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif. Ahh, the good old days! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Siobhan, I agree, I love your name! Juniorgrrl, Aimee is such a pretty name! (I'm sorry, I don't know how to put the accent mark on my post!) Plus, I love unique names, and I think the spelling is very pretty! I hope to name my daughter in the future Kylie Jacqueline http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif. I love the name Kylie...it's unique but not too strange, and many people seem to like it along with me! Funny, though, I went to the site that I posted--and then I clicked on the "Survey" for 'Kylie'--and most said it would be most fitting for a 12 year-old girl http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif. LOL... P.S...That's too funny how you were going to post this too! I can't wait to talk to you via e-mail soon!! |
Hey Newbie- don't worry about the email! - Just soooo glad you are back! Hope all is good in your life chick! You deserve the best! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Actually, I knew mine before this - when I was born, an uncle purchased a little plaque with my name origin, meaning, all that good stuff - it's been on my wall as long as i can remember. That website is pretty cool though too.
So "Robert" = "Shining with Fame" . . . which i think works out ok! |
I don't know if I ended up somewhere else before, but now it says
"This girl's name is used in German, Dutch, English, Spanish and Norwegian. Its source is Adelheid, a German name meaning "Exalted nature." "The name Heidi ranked 241st in popularity for females of all ages in a sample of the 1990 US Census." Guess the first nickname on the drawback list...Heidi Ho! I used to hate being called that, but I embraced it sometime around 11th grade. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Heidi Ho http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
The name Carrie comes from "car", a Gaelic word meaning "Love." I was named after my great-grandmother. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

They don't even have my name.
Go HERE. They have detailed reports for almost every name possible and if they don't have your name you can email them and they will add it. It is really scary how accurate it is most of the time. All of my friends tried it in the dorm and everyone's report was dead on. |

Heres what I found about my name. My first name is Kevin and my middle name is Fitzgerald. The Fitz part is "son of" and my Dads name is Gerald.
"This boy's and girl's name is used in Dutch and English. Its source is Caoimhin, an Irish Gaelic name meaning "Handsome beloved." Learn more about the heritage of this name. Alternate spellings of the name Kevin include: Cevin, Keven, Kevyn. There are four other forms of Kevin. This name's expression of admiration and affection could be specific to the newborn, more like ''handsome baby.'' St. Kevin is one of the patron saints of Dublin, Ireland. His name was not commonly used outside of Ireland until the 1920s. Since then, it has gained and maintained popularity in the U.S., and may get a further boost from the fame of actor-producer-director Kevin Costner."
