Ok...that is pretty rude. What kind of loser put this site together??

I actually don't find it rude, because that's seriously what many of our chapters are like...very atypical "sorority girls". We have only a few chapters that fit the mold of a sorority stereotype.

I still say that the site is pretty weird, though.

ETA: Does anyone know what campus has all of the listed GLOs?? That could be a clue as to where it came from.

it looks like someone may have had an assignment in school to create a webpage. they may have used the chapters and stereotypes from their school.

The only one I can think of is Penn State, which has those GLOs plus about 3487638473248723987 more. I can't think of any other campus we share with Kappa. I think they just randomly picked groups.

Oh and as for the ASA description, you can take it either way - personally, I would be much more offended if I was a KD or ZTA with the way they described those two.

I think the chapter descriptions are just kind of stupid - it's the questionnaire that's really the rude part ...

Have you all ever heard of role playing games online (not video games)? This is what that site looks like to me. My old roommate in college did this (it's REALLY weird). Because there are "Open" positions, and the filled ones have pictures that are of celebrities, that makes me think it's an RPG even more.

They take characters from television shows (she did some anime show) or scenarios (like greek life), select a part to play, get enough people to make it "interesting," then use a blog to "act out" scenes... Like..."The ABCs and the XYZs had a mixer last night. There was so much drama" and then the rest of the "actors" would leave comments in "reaction" to the original, and play off each other in words. An RPG seems to be like a fanfic with different authors...sort of.

It's really weird, but mostly a creative outlet in a roundabout way; I think this may be what is going on over there.

Even if it is a RPG (which I am kind of familiar with) whom ever created it could have had enough tact and respect to use fake organizations and not actual fraternities/sororities with established chapters. I mean, really.

AlphaFrog 08-14-2007 11:39 AM

The site refers to Tarvers University - I suppose maybe the person who created it has the last name of Tarver?

Then it wouldn't be as much fun. I don't think tact or respect is the goal. My guess is the players will be folx wanting to bash the real fraternities and sororities.

I do have to say, though, that I totally love the "ASA" house!

Tom Earp 08-14-2007 02:24 PM

This is to funny!

The LXA house shown is from the University of Kansas and before that was the Alpha Gamma Delta house.

A 3.0 GPA, non drinking, wow where does this person get his info?:D

At least I did not see slum housing for us as Greeks.

Oh well, it gives us something to talk about, right Alphafrog?;)

SigKapCoug 08-14-2007 03:58 PM

Guys, I think it's a webpage for a college-themed roleplaying game. Nothing to get too concerned about!

Uh, when someone's providing false information and is using symbols without permission...that's definitely something to be concerned about.

Just because you don't think anything of it, I doubt HQs would feel the same way. Non-members falsely representing themselves as XYZ is a serious matter.

If someone is talking about a chapter of ASA that doesn't exist and has never existed, implying that our brother fraternity is Phi Delts (not that we don't love you guys - big smooch), saying what our "standard GPA" is, linking it to a questionnaire containing racial slurs and stereotypes, and putting all this on a site that comes up very easily when googling my sorority's name - yes, I think it IS something to be concerned about.

If this was a closed site no one could find, we wouldn't be discussing this to begin with.

yangstar 08-14-2007 04:12 PM

Apparently Chi O is our sorority. Do we own them or something? This site is kinda funny haha.

It's also trademark infringement.
