Interesting! I know that Pi Delta at Maryland was a local called Lambda Tau. They did not choose that name or it wouldn't have been available when Lambda Tau was chartered.

Another AOII here. When UC Berkeley local sorority Alpha Beta Sigma affiliated with Alpha Omicron Pi over a hundred years ago, we kept the "Sigma" as our chapter name. When our chapter closed not long ago, Sigmas who were still active Cal students formed a local sorority named Delta Sigma - delta for change, sigma for continuity.
