Another vote for Oasys. My vision is hideous in one eye - my doctors said I'd have to go through two rounds of Lasik in that eye to get it right. The other has keratitis due to sleeping in my contacts. So I'd recommend against that! Even when they say you can. My eye started growing over top of the contact, so when I finally took it out, some eye tissue came too. Not pleasant....

But I also agree with the above posters - I like my peripherals and I like my sunglasses! But it's also fun on cloudy days to wear glasses and see the reactions of people who don't know how bad my vision is.

What is the main difference between Oasys and Purevision? Is one better for dry eyes?

Never tried Purevision. Oasys is what my doctor gave me given the keratitis in my left eye - though that is not a prerequisite for using them. The way he briefly explained it is that Oasys allows more oxygen to reach the lens of your eye, thereby relieving irritation and alleviating dryness. I could tell immediately that there was a difference. When I first started wearing them, they didn't make them strong enough for my right eye, so I had two different brands. I could really tell. It was a year before I could wear them in both! I haven't really taken the time to research the whys and wherefores about Oasys - just took my doctor's advice on them and have seen incredible results.

Now I sound like a commercial for them!

I LOVE my contacts! I don't know what I'd do without them. While I do wear my glasses a lot, it's always good to know that I have contacts. I love the fact that I can put my contacts in on really sunny days & wear shades. They don't fog up like glasses. They don't get in the way. I suggest them to everyone.

I love my Oasys contacts. I tend to have dry eyes and with my old contacts, I was constantly using re-wetting drops. Now with Oasys, I can ditch the re-wetting drops. Plus, you can hardly tell when you put them in (other than you can suddenly see clearly).
However I do also keep a pair of glasses on hand for when I have a migraine or on the weekends when it's just easier to throw on the glasses as soon as I get out of bed.

Add me to the vote that contacts are completely worth it!

I have worn glasses since the 4th grade. Got contacts as a junior in HS, and haven't looked back since. I do keep a backup pair of glasses, just in case there's a problem with the contacts, etc. However, I wear my contacts 99% of the time. My now husband didn't even realize I wore contacts/glasses until we'd been dating for a few months, generally it takes a good 6 months at a new job before my co-workers realize I wear glasses, etc.

Glasses just get in the way. I play racquetball, softball, and volleyball - glasses would be a huge PITA to try to deal with! Not to mention that I have 2 toddlers - on the rare occcasion that I wear my glasses, inevitably one of them has tried to take them off my face or mess with them, etc. I'll be making a trip to Cedar Point soon - glasses and roller coasters aren't terribly compatible. (At least not on the ones that go upside down...) :) I couldn't function normally without my contacts!

I didn't get contacts til early college years since my parents would never get them for me. I have had glasses since 2nd grade so I was happy when I finally got contacts for myself. I personally would rather have that eye surgery so I don't have to deal with either one, but yeah I'm glad I have contacts.
