We still have to pay $23 per month for usage with CompuSUCKS so we decided it was worth giving the $400 back (plus a nice $50 fee) - heck - just to know I'm done with them is enough for me! We are now using the free Lycos since we don't spend much time on the computer at home anymore. When you stay on the phone & computer for a living, its the LAST thing you want to do at home!

Can they be reported somewhere, like to the Better Business Bureau, just as a complaint? I think people ought to know what they are getting themselves in to with this company. If we had heard a story like ours, we would have NEVER gone through with it. It is just not worth the hassle.

At Home: AOL (haven't had a problem with it, primarily use it to check mail), Cox@home (email, internet speed is great).

At School: The wonderful server provided to me by the school (it's ratty as hell), and I use AOL from time to time.

AXO Alum,

I couldnt agree with you more. I think reporting it to the BBB would be a good idea or to one of the t.v. stations. I know NBC has some kind of consumer reporter. I just wrote an email to the NBC consumer reporter about this situation. My aunt has compusucks too and she has the same problems as I do. Its definitely a marketing scam by these computer stores.

I use Bellsouth's DSL,

I like it because I can surf the net and talk on the phone at the same time....

I'm an internet junky and a phone junky...can't miss those calls... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Folks, I was on the net over the weekend checking out Free ISPs.

There are now very few left since 1stUp recently went out of business. This company powered free ISP service for NBCi.com, Lycos and Alta Vista, among others (around 85). The company that powers K-Mart's BlueLight is also folding.

Many are going the way of Netzero where the service is free up to 40 hours (free hours may vary).

I am going to keep Netzero, but I just may go ahead and sign up for DSL service. The advantages for DSL is that it doesn't tie up your telephone line and the connection is fast. It is expensive but worth it.

I use Juno. It's free, never busy, nver get kicked off, works pretty fast (as fast as my modem will allow it) -- not one complaint. I don't use the email though - I prefer the email on the net that I can check from any computer.

I also use the free service provided by my school. It also is never busy, never get kicked off.

I only use Juno because my school has a guard up against Napster. I must have my Napster -- I just got a CD burner on my computer! Must have Napster!
