Patty's 411 Celebrity Report for 04.02.07

www.wdasfm.com

Patty Jackson's 411 for the week of April 2nd:

It’s baby time! Guess what Eddie Murphy got for his 46th birthday? Well, if the DNA test proves correct, baby number 7, a 5lb, 4oz baby girl. Former Spice Girl Mel B gave birth to the baby on Murphy’s birthday. Mel says Murphy is the daddy. They dated for six months last year then he dumped her. Murphy says he wants a DNA test. If he is the daddy, he is going to have to pay up. Right before the baby was born, Mel went on a shopping spree at an exclusive boutique and dropped $2,000 in one afternoon.

Usher is going to be a daddy! Usher and his fiancée Tameka Foster are going to be parents. Foster used to be Usher’s stylist, but she was fired by his mom because she didn’t like what she was doing. Usher wanted Foster in his life and made her his girlfriend. Foster is older than Usher. He’s 28, and she’s between the ages of 37-39. When he hooked up with Foster, she was married with three kids. She is now divorced, but some people are wondering if the baby she is carrying is her ex-husband’s. Usher has a new album coming out later this year, and he is planning to tie everything into a big promotion: new album, new baby and a wedding! Needless to say his mom is not happy about the situation. Mom’s getting ready for a big birthday bash, and for the moment, she will have to grin and bear it.

Singer Faith Evans just welcomed baby number four. Evans and her husband recently had a son named Ryder.

Is Record Exec L.A. Reid cheating on his wife? Reid is the big boss at Def Jam/Island Records. In the 80’s, he was a musician in the group The Deele with Babyface, and he was married to Singer Pebbles. Reid is no longer married to Pebbles. A few years ago, he married someone else and started a new family. Everytime you would see L.A. and his wife, they appeared very happy. That’s why it was quite a shock to hear he was sending steamy emails to a former secretary. The emails dated back to 2005, and they were quite suggestive. Sources claim Reid and the secretary were not involved….. they were just playing. Should a married man be playing like this? Has Mr. Reid jeopardized his marriage?

Actor Calvin Lockhart has died. The original “Biggie Smalls” (Let’s Do It Again) and “Silky Slim” (Uptown Saturday Night) was 72-years old. Lockhart died from complications after suffering a stroke at his home in the Bahamas. He leaves behind his mother, his wife, two sons, two daughters and several siblings. Lockhart is best known for the movies Cotton Comes to Harlem, Let’s Do It Again, Uptown Saturday Night and Coming to America. He also did TV. He appeared on Dynasty, and played the gambling “Cousin Raymond” on Good Times.

Is Chris Rock the father of a 13-year old California boy? According to published reports, Rock is being asked to submit to a DNA test to determine if he is indeed the father of the boy. The boy’s mother claims she had an affair with Rock in the early 90’s. She claims she is coming forward now because the boy suffers from seizures, and she needs to know about Rock’s family medical history. Reps for Rock say he is being cooperative, but he just wants to make sure the mother is not trying to scam him for money. Rock and his wife Malaak have two young toddlers.

R Kelly graces the cover of the new issue of Vibe magazine. For the past five years, he has been dealing with child pornography charges stemming from a video reportedly showing him and a 14-year old girl. Was it R Kelly in the video? Where is the young girl? Why is this court case taking so long? Will R Kelly ever have his day in court? Kelly is getting ready to release a new album and a new DVD set for his musical soap opera Trapped in the Closet.

Denzel Washington is going to Iraq. The Oscar winner is set to produce and star in a movie called a Journal for Jordan. The film is based on the letters of a soldier who was killed in Baghdad during the Iraq War.

Everybody is buzzing about the shocking exit of Actress Victoria Rowell from the soap opera The Young and The Restless. Rowell played the popular “Drucilla” for 13 years. She went out with a bang of a cliffhanger. Can the character be saved? Rowell left the popular soap after years of frustration. She felt she wasn’t being allowed to grow. She wanted to direct some episodes and expand her wings. She said her work was never nominated for an Emmy, despite the fact she has won 11 NAACP Image Awards. Rowell says she harbors no ill feelings and it was just time to go. Rowell is currently on the road promoting her new book The Women Who Raised Me. The book is about her life in foster homes and being adopted.

Congratulations to Oscar Winner Halle Berry. Berry recently got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her new movie, Perfect Stranger, opens in theatres on April 13th, and she is the cover girl for the latest edition of Ebony magazine.

Fellow Oscar Winner Forest Whitaker (Last King of Scotland) will be teaming up with Keanu Reeves for the movie The Night Watchman. He’s also in talks to work with Oscar Winner Jennifer Hudson for the movie Winged Creatures.

Cleveland Cavaliers Basketball Phenom LeBron James is building his dream home in Cleveland. The 11 bedroom mansion features a theatre, bowling alley, casino and barbershop. The mansion will be finished next year.

Dr. Ian Smith from VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club is putting together the biggest African American Health initiative in history. The 50 million pound challenge will address the overweight epidemic in the country. Patti LaBelle, Steve Harvey, Mary J. Blige and Ashford & Simpson have signed on to help promote the program.

The past few weeks have been challenging for Vivica A. Fox. Since her recent arrest for drunk driving, Fox says she has learned a lot. She says she plans on resolving the issue as soon as possible. She is due in court on May 17th, faces six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. She also lost a deal with GM/Cadillac as their endorser, which paid her $1 million a year.

The Queen of Soul is about to become a doctor. Aretha Franklin will be receiving an honorary doctorate on May 14th at the University of Pennsylvania’s graduation ceremony.

Dave Chappelle is returning to TV. Chappelle will be producing a new HBO show for Legendary Comedian Paul Mooney called Judge Mooney.

It’s another son for Actor Wesley Snipes and his wife. This is their third child.

Get ready for Sex and the City, the movie. The hit HBO series with “Carrie,” “Samantha,” “Miranda” and “Charlotte” is headed to the big screen featuring the original stars.

I had a chance to talk to the music industry’s hottest sensation, Robin Thicke. Thicke has the hit album The Evolution of Robin Thicke which features the smash Lost Without You. Thicke is planning a summer tour around the world, and he says he is very happy about the success of the album. Thicke recently opened up to Rolling Stone magazine about his drug use and his love for certain drugs: a little too much info (TMI). Let’s hope his habit doesn’t get in the way of his career.

Tyler Perry’s latest movie Daddy’s Little Girls with Gabrielle Union and Idris Elba is coming out on DVD, June 12th.

The CNN Network is taking the O’Brien’s off the mornings. Soledad O’Brien and Miles O’Brien (no relation) will no longer be hosting the morning show. They are going to be replaced by John Roberts and Kiran Chetry.

The Simmons Family is gearing up for another season of Run’s house. The season kicks off with the family dealing with the death of their infant daughter. The Simmons Family will be featured in upcoming issues of O, People and Essence magazines.

At the movies, it’s Are We Done Yet? with Ice Cube and Nia Long.

RIP Mr. Robinson, he did so much for Grambling during his tenure.

I was really surprised to see that Joe and Justine Simmons are going to address their daughter's death on the series. I can only imagine how difficult that decision was for them and the family.

Actually, they stated on Oprah and to People magazine that it wasn't so hard and was part of their healing process. I can't wait for the season to start!

I'm glad to hear that. It'll definitely be an interesting season and way more real than any other celebrity reality show.

Y'all know that I can't wait for the new season to come cuz that is my show, but I saw them on Oprah and they showed the scene from when Jus was in the hospital and the kids showed up and they had to tell them that the baby died. It was real, and I can definitely see how this was a healing process. On Oprah she asked Jo Jo about him not wanting to have a new baby in the house and he had said that yeah he thought that there were to many people in the house already and when the baby didn't survive he thought it was his fault and he had blamed himself since he was the one that wasn't gung ho to have a new baby in the house, and Jus talked to him and told him that it wasn't his fault.

I don't know if it was Diggy or Russy in the hospital when they told him that the baby didn't survive, his face went from one emotion to another because he came in all happy and was like where is the baby, and then they had to tellhim, also when check out Angela and Vanessa when they got there and look at Vanessa's face, t was real....yes this one of the best reality shows on if you ask.

I TOTALLY AGREE!! This show is FABULOUS!! :D I did feel sorry for Diggy because he found out at that moment. And when JoJo said that he felt like the baby dying was his fault, I was about to cry with him.

The girls are great. They are just like "regular" girls. They are SOOOOOO unlike the spolied rotten little b**chy brats that you see on shows like "Sweet 16." I love their family dynamic and the way that they remain humble about everything. They truly are a model family.

Exactly because I keep thinking back to the first episode in the first season when Angela was graduating from high school, and remember that graduating party that she wanted to have and Run wasn't even having that mess. That Sweet 16 stuff is so out of control that it's not even funny.
