Exactly. I've been Greek for almost 7 years now, so I'm past the whole "rivalry" thing. I started getting over it in undergrad, though. I'm surprised that the hate still runs as rampant as it does.

It seems to be getting worse, actually. I hear of a lot of really stupid incidents. Maybe people are just poorly raised, I guess.

Or poorly pledged.
I think much of the success of the mainstream councils has to do with mutual respect of histories and purposes of member organizations. NALFO/LGLO organizations are so quick to judge each other for petty things, and it gets in the way of growth. I do think a lot of it has to do with the number of organizations in existence, though. |

If we insist on one-upping one another, it needs to be with something worthwhile -- national programming, philanthropy, etc. Unfortunately, as you stated earlier, we're too busy worrying about who has the same sign or the hardest pledge process. |
The good thing is that MOST members of LGLOs are far more concerned with the work of their organizations than the nonsense that was being posted on that blog. I've seen LGLOs really come together in times of crisis, as well as in service to the community. It's a shame that people don't want to talk more about these types of interactions.
