And it's fetus-free popcorn

That is, before they were rudely interrupted.

Baby is after birth. Embryo and fetus before birth. And they only really start taking shape around 2 months. I can now say I have seen it for myself.

No, it is taking the shape of a human FETUS. A baby is quite differently shaped than a fetus.

At first. But an 8 month old fetus isn't differently shaped. And we can argue semantics all we want, point is, whatever you want to call it, it's LIVING HUMAN.

Not meant as inflammatory

OOPS! I come across terribly over email, don't I? I need a writing class that specializes in how to write online. I've never been good at it.

I sincerely apologize for anyone who felt offended or provoked.

A friend of mine fowarded me the email yesterday, and I just copied the title of the email without putting much thought into how those passionate about the baby vs. cells debate would react. Again, so sorry.

Because I never heard the story before, I wasn't certain what to believe about it and thought this group of news&politics readers might know more than the fowarded email suggests. Possibly someone could offer some educational insight on if this story is true/false/misleading and if there are any possible health complications due to the source being used.

It is my understanding that whenever you introduce one human's cells into another person, there exists the possibility of rejection by the host person which can lead to complications. Is it possible to direct this conversation into more of that kind of debate?

Thanks for your consideration-

An 8 month old fetus is also viable for life and won't be aborted. Before 22 weeks, it's not viable for life, it's not sentient. Therein lies the difference.

Doubt it. It's already train-wrecked pretty badly.

Yeah, this just exploded into a Multiple Casualty Incident (MCI). Alphafrog, we disagree and that's cool.

I think 3rd trimester abortions are still legal, so it is possible.

And before 22 weeks, it's not viable for life OUTSIDE the womb, but it is living.

ETA: I guess I just have a hard time grasping that all of a sudden, at 22 weeks, it's magically viable for life outside the womb, and so should be given semi-consideration for life, but before that, it's just a mass of cells, so trash it if you want.

trying to leave the train wreck

Here's my second attempt-

Quick GC lesson #1:

If thread #1 on a topic turns into a trainwreck, there's about a 99.534234% chance threads #2, 3, 4, etc will turn into a trainwreck.

Quick GC lesson #2:

You can't tell people what not to post. It's like telling a teenager not to drink at a beer party...you might as well put one in their hand.

Whew Jess...step away from the keyboard! You're vicious today :P
By the way, the only reason I say the things I do is because I've somehow managed to conjure the ability to look at these issues objectively. I hope I don't come across as unfeeling...it's a part of being in the medical profession.
