My best friend from high school is rushing at Miami too! Today went well for her.

So, she visited the rest today - there's still another day of open house tomorrow, but her schedule was crammed into two days.

Pink - her other legacy chapter, she really liked this one
Lavender - not one of her favorites
Tan - didn't stand out much to her
Green - she didn't expect to like this one at all and was pleasantly surprised
Turquoise - she didn't like this one as much as she expected, but she got picked up at the door by a girl she knows, so that was nice
Blue - she had a bad experience with them pre-recruitment but liked them a lot today
Magenta - not one of her favorites
Brown - she really liked this one but fears she'll be cut due to a personal connection
Black - she was really offended by a few questions here, and didn't like them much as a result
White - one of her favorites from pre-recruitment, but they didn't make a huge impression today

She doesn't rank until tomorrow evening, but so far she's planning to rank them (in no particular order except for the bottom five):

1. Red
1. Yellow
1. Gray
1. Purple
1. Gold
1. Silver
1. Pink
1. Green
1. Turquoise
1. Blue
1. Brown
1. White
2. Tan
3. Lavender
4. Magenta
5. Black
6. Orange

She's really hoping for invites from purple, pink, red, blue, and brown the most.

good luck to your sister .. hope she finds her home!!

Sigma was a local group founded to bring AEPhi back to campus. They closed in 2003? (not sure about that one)

I am not sure when AEphi will be coming back either in the Spring or the Fall.

I didn't know Sigma was participating in Open House.

Thanks for this - very interesting that they sprang from AEPhi, who closed in 2004. They didn't take any new members in 2003 and 2004, so I thought they had all graduated by now.

Anyway, not much chance that my sister will end up there, as we're Catholic. :)

AEPhi Colonizes on Three Campuses this Spring

National Council is pleased to announce that Alpha Epsilon Phi will be colonizing on three campuses this spring. We will be returning to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and to the University of Connecticut in January. Later on in the semester, a new group will begin at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Watch for more stories on our website or in Columns.

Red
Brown
Gray
Gold
Silver
Green

She will not be returning to:

Lots of houses to visit, and may she have a wonderful time at each!

Yay for little sister!

AGDLynn 01-06-2007 08:54 AM

Side note..I didn't even know we had a chapter at Miami, lol.

Aphigal 01-06-2007 08:56 AM

Well I am sad she's not going back to Alpha Phi....but to be released from only 3 and getting as a pnm to release an additional 2 is pretty darn amazing in this recruitment. With 17 chapters...I know that the releases are pretty heavy after open house (or at least I know Alpha Phi had to release 40%+ of the girls they saw)

I talked to our educational leadership consultant late last night...Alpha Phi is doing amazing....they had phi-nominal returns!!!

I know - here I was thinking that I had a pretty good rush back in the day at Miami, but my sister is definitely putting me to shame. She was even really disappointed with getting dropped by three because her roommate and two friends didn't get cut at all. I had to explain that that's definitely unusual!

carnation 01-06-2007 11:12 AM

I've heard a lot of girls getting upset at SEC schools when they get cut from, like, half the groups- and lots of other girls would kill for results that good. These days, you can be thrilled if you end up going to 2-3 prefs you like there and pledging a group you like.

The 2006 stories of 3 girls we know:
1 went through a very harrowing rush at Auburn and finally ended up Zeta.
1 went through a delightful rush at Ga Tech, never got cut, and went Zeta.
1 didn't go through formal rush at Shorter, got a call from a ZTA friend-and is now a Zeta.

All within a few weeks of each other!

ADqtPiMel 01-06-2007 11:44 AM

Yea, Miami can be brutal - when I went through four years ago, I only got to cut four groups. And that was considered to be a good rush!
