Kevin--
I agree, I wish he didn't have them either. I guess I just figure that the fact that they haven't been melted down and still exist means that someday, Jeff (the guy who runs fraternitypin.com and owns that collection)will have to sell those pins, some of them with significant historical value. In fact, he already sold about 25-30 pins from his collection last year in order to fund a new business venture he was undertaking . . . so you never know when he will decide to sell the Beta pins you want . . . it has to happen sometime . . . just my opinion. ------------------ Oh, Kappa Kappa Kappa Gamma, I'm so happy that I am a Kappa Kappa Kappa Gamma, Nobody knows . . . how happy I am! |
IMSOH,
True... I see where your coming from. If I had the money I'd definitely would buy the Beta pins. I guess we'll just have to see what happens. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Kevin |
One of my sisters was jsut asking me about this the other day. she is a new initiate, and her friend bout her an old chi o badge. should she send it to nationals?

Although AGD doesn't have a specific fund to handle pins for sale, we do have someone from IHQ who carefully monitors items put up for auction, especially fraternity pins and vintage AGD stuff (old songbooks, etc.). I know this for sure because my chapter advisor usually bids on a lot of historical stuff on eBay...and she got an email from IHQ. They are actually doing detective work to see who buys and who sells!
Does Chi Omega have a similar person who deals with eBay auctions? It's really disheartening to see these individuals making money off things that are not rightfully theirs. The fact that the two individuals running the fraternity pin site are GREEKS makes me sad. They, of all people, should know the policies regarding badges and pins. AGD's policies state that badges are the property of AGD, and upon a sister's death she is to be either buried with it or have it returned to IHQ. Are your policies the same way??? |
Yes, def. send it back to Nationals- my house was robbed and my grandmother's pin (XO) was stolen- I would so like to have it back - - I'm sure many are out there like me. Sue

Yes, Perspehone, you should send that badge to HQ! While Chi Omega does not have a specific person whose job centers around eBay, they do hear a lot about it and deal with donations from stuff found on eBay all the time. About the pin, HQ will keep it in the archives and display it. of course, if the person is still alive, they may be able to return it to her. In any case, an initiate is only supposed to wear her own badge or the badge of her mother or grandmother, so you guys might be able to find that someone else has better use for it. Also, it probably has the chapter, initiation date and initials engraved on the back, unless it is very old, so check it out!

Sisters-
Heads up- There is another Chi Omega badge for sale on Ebay. Grrrrr happyowl |
Hey,
Not only are there pins/badges on there, but also paddles, sweatshirts and t-shirts, songbooks, and pledge manuals from a bunch of GLOs. Type in the word "fraternity" for the search, and you'll get a LOT of pages. Some of it is masonic related, but a lot of it is for glos.
