From the impression I get of the "Master Cleanse", it isn't about the weight loss as much as it is about the purifying benefits.

That's what I've heard too. It can jumpstart a change in diet but isn't necessarily designed to be a weight loss tool. I considered doing it because I was eating horribly for awhile, but I got back on track on my own.

Not to be gross, but I've heard you're also supposed to do a salt water flush every morning to get your bowels moving.....sounds fun. LOL

the idea is to cleanse, purify, and then start fresh with a healthy lifestyle..i.e. excercising, eating better....the book said and others have stated that if you continue to drink a large amount of H20 everyday you won't gain the water weight back...the other part of the weight loss is built up fecal matter and bad fat....

Day 1

ok....I've started my cleanse...the herbal laxative tea isn't bad...it has very little taste actually....I had a cup last night before bed and I'm having one now....you can opt to drink the seasalt bath in the mornings but I've tried that before and its hard to stomach...I'm going to attempt to use the seasalt at least twice a week though because it helps "clear out" everything thats been "loosened" up....So far the tea from last night hasn't had an effect..although I do feel some rumble in my tummy...I just made my lemonade for the day....its not very much:( but I can have as much H20 and peppermint tea as I like!!:)

Yes, you are.

This sounds wack. If you need to lose weight and can't poop, just eat more fruits.

i remember my dad did this or something similar, it was pretty funny because he was slowly introducing heavier liquids back into his diet in order to get back to solids, and apparently the re-introduction of solids is really difficult, and we had to take a 30 minute detour at the adpi house on our way to his gig in ft. worth. quite amusing.

I don't know if this is the cleanse that claims that the average person has 22 pounds of old matter in their colons, but, I must say, that claim is BS. If that were true, then everybody who has ever done a colonoscopy prep would lose 22 pounds during the prep. While most people do lose a couple pounds from the prep, it's mostly water weight, because you are dehydrated after a liquid diet for 24 hours followed by a gallon of laxatives...

While it is an interesting concept, I would not do something this extreme without advice from a doctor. Drinking only this stuff does not sound healthy at all. Not to mention that i'm guessing it will turn even the sweetest person into a raging psycho bitch.

Cleansing diets where you eat mostly vegetables and a small amount of good carbs sound a lot more healthy to me and a lot less dangerous.

The cleanse I used to do was only a weekend long. You drink distilled water and take lots of goldenseal, and just kind of lie around, because you will have like zero energy.

The next time I try this, I will eat citrus though.

This cleanse is perfectly healthy but with anything you should check with your doctor to m ake sure that YOU are in good health before starting it.

I've done this before (only for 5 days) and I felt ten times better! Some peopple do lose weight but it tells you that this is not intended for weight loss - just cleansing of the body and preparation for a healthy start (some people do this cleanse before starting a vegan lifestlye).

I got very hungry just reading about this cleansing diet last night. I don't think I could live on just liquids. Good Luck.

Your body needs to take in a certain number of calories on a daily basis. This is not healthy and the weight you lose will be gained back+ because you're starving your body and it will slow your metabolism down.

If you want to "purify" your body, go through your pantry and trash the crap. Eat fresh foods and whole grains and exercise.
