uuughh...the thought of it makes my poor diabetic pancreas cry.

But, the amazing indian food will be well worth it. Glasgow's Indian community is well known for amazing cooking.

So how's it going everyone? I've been here for one week and it is pretty awesome. Signed up for the rowing club and hounds and hares running club, have some interesting flatmates and I've met a ton of people. Registering for classes tomorrow and doing a bunch of stuff. Miss home and my fiance like crazy, but seriously, this is awesome.

hehe, wonder if we'd be rowing against each other at any point? Dunno if the R.o.I. unis and the British unis compete against each other or what.

Sounds like all is going well!! :) I'm now in my third (and ridiculously insane) third year of the PhD and it looks like I'll be finishing on time, which is almost unheard of. I have a chapter due in a month, am teaching two classes (as opposed to four last year), and working temporarily in the slide library to make more money.

PhoenixAzul, how's the weather in Glasgow? Winter hit St Andrews on Monday (dark, cold and wet) after a beautiful weekend... Boo. At least it motivates me to do work instead of going to the beach.

And AlexMack, PhoenixAzul and all others in Glasgow, have you seen www.glasgowsurvival.co.uk ? Hilarious! I've only ever seen one ned fight in Glasgow: after my friend's birthday drinks at Strata we went to wait in a taxi queue and about 10 girls started going at each other in the middle of the road. Shoes were lost, kebabs were thrown, it was potentially the funniest/most disturbing thing I've seen all year.

Hahah! Glasgowsurvival is AMAZING! My mate Cris sent that to me last year. The weather was absolutely gorgeous here today, absolutely perfect. I'm hoping it holds out for the weekend.

Oh, and I've got my dissertation topic! I'm so excited :), and I spent most of monday lying on my back under a 17th century dining table in the Burrel Collection. Fun times.

Congrats on the PhD! We're going to have to call you Dr. Violet soon :).
