But according to the article:

"said the decision had nothing to do with the show's recent announcement that it was arranging its teams based on contestants' race and ethnicity." Hmmm...

LMAO

1. The old Asian guy said that he didn't fit the Asian stereotype. As soon as he said that it said "Nail Salon Manager" on the bottom of the screen.

2. The wild chicken chase.

3. The fat hispanic guy said something along the lines of we came from the islands and now we're going back to the islands.

Who else watched last night?

I'm not usually a Survivor fan, but I was curious so I tuned in. I'll probably check it out again next week.

I laughed my butt off when he said that. Next season they should pit the 4 tribes against one another by major religions in the US: Christians vs Jews vs Muslims vs Athiests

That would be hilarious to watch them debate about God being on "our" side.

Just thinking about all the hooking-up that would happen on that show makes me cringe. During last night's epi I was like, "They've only been there for two days and they're already shacking up!"

Warning: cheeky comment ahead (|)

While the Christians, Muslims and Jewish are occupied with arguing about whose side God is on, the Athiests would just sneak in and take the whole thing, since they won't be pre-occupied in arguing about whose side God is on, thus leaving more time to plan their Survivor strategy...

No surprise that someone's already hooking up.

I love the fact that they're in the Cook Islands. We often refer to the people of Cook Islands and Aotearoa (NZ) as our Maori cousins. Their language and customs are very similar to ours.

And FYI: the tribe names are taken from 4 of the islands: Pukapuka, Rarotonga, Manihiki, and Aitutaki.

Interesting so far...!

Don't forget about DC and Florida - those are major melting pots...

I learned poi balls when I was in Hawaii just to show off to him when I got back lol.

When I was a senior in college, I hosted a girl from the University of Otogo. She and 30 other Maori students were on exchange for 6 weeks at UHM. When we sent them off at the airport, these students did a haka for us to show their appreciation. Most of us were in tears and had goosebumps because it was *THAT* moving. Needless to say, I could tell it freaked out a bunch of tourists not familiar with the haka.

Our Warrior football team performs a haka before and after each game. :)

While Hawai`i' has a large Asian population, the strong military presence here also provides for a major, major melting pot.

I wrote an article about the new season's controversy for my school paper, but after watching it I don't think there's much of a controversy for the contestants. And quite frankly, I think this season is going to be very good and I think the producers did well to set it up the way they did.

They need to do "Survivor: Homeless" and see how the tribes get along in the inner city!
