Sounds like someone has an aggie... :)

Good luck to TexasDaughter! I love a good rush story--especially from my adopted state of Texas! I look forward to reading more.
Question to TexasMom--you said she went to a pre-recruitment event last semester....what was covered? Was it informational? I assume it was sponsored by the school...not the local alumnae panhellenic? My local panhellenic is considering changes to our recruitment forum, and I was just wondering what "worked" in your experience. If you want to PM me instead of responding publicly, that's ok. |
ahhhh...I thought maybe Texas Tech!!!!:)
|
tech has 11 chapters, hehe, i'm such a nerd

I think I know which school your daughter will be at;) . Good luck to her and all the PNMs!

opps-sorry about the preposition thing-I guess we can no loger edit our posts:confused:

It's nice to see everyone guessing about the school (he-he). TexasDaughter has given me permission to name the school once Recruitment starts (and it's very close now, less than a week away!) Her schedule will be as follows:
Round 1 - visit all sororities - PNMs will wear a Recruitment t-shirt and denim bottoms (either shorts or skirt) - visits will be 20 minutes to each house. TexasDaughter is going to wear a cute denim skirt. Round 2 - visit up to 9 houses - casual dress. TexasDaughter is going to wear a skirt and a silky top. Round 3 - visit up to 6 houses - this is Philanthophy Day. TexasDaughter is really looking forward to this round -- some of the GLOs have philanthropies very dear to her heart. Round 4 - visit up to 4 houses - this is Sisterhood Day. TexasDaughter is planning on wearing a really cute print sundress. She understands this is a little more serious round. Round 5 - Pref Night - visit 2 houses. TexasDaughter wants to wear black (I know, I know -- she should probably wear a color, but this dress is beautiful). She also has a really cute polka dot dress she may wear. So much has been written on this Board about Pref Night and she really hopes to have the fortune and opportunity to be a part of such a special event. Then, after all this, it's BID DAY!!! Preparing for Recruitment, along with preparing for college in general, has made this a really hectic week. In a funny sort of way, we're dreading and looking forward to it at the same time. Does that make sense? |
facebook, etc.
I just have one reallly quick piece of advice for your PNM! Make sure she goes over any content she has on her facebook or myspace accounts, because sorority members will be checking out their rush crushes through these mediums and it's always a good idea to present yourself in the best light, and not have anything embarassing or something that would tarnish her reputation on these sites! I'm sure you've already thought of that, but this is also a reminder to all PNM's!

If it is Texas A&M... maybe she will meet my brother. My mom called me at 7 her time to tell me they were going to something for new students today. He is glad that he didn't get the 3 person suite that he original was assigned to. He is going to be a Junior with all the credits that he has but if you see a tall, skinny, white boy with an afro of black curls from Houston then tell him hi from his sister in KY.
I wouldn't normally describe someone this way... but these are all true statements about my brother. |
You know, as a Dad, I must admit it got a little crazy with the clothes aspect of rush. My daughter gave us fashion shows, poses, etc., to make sure everything was just right. And heaven help me if I gave the wrong opinion about how the fabric color matches her skin, or whether she should wear her hair down or in a ponytail with a certain outfit. Does this look okay, Daddy? Or should I wear the blue and white dress on Wednesday? How about these shoes?
I can only hope I gave the right answers.... |

haha, I don't think my father even knows what rush was, I just called home on bid day and was like "guess what!" no one else in my family was ever involved in the Greek system at all though.
|
LOVEinZTa...I did the same thing too! I was just like, surprise! I'm a Greek! I am the first sorority woman in my family too.
When my Dad found out that I went DG, he started calling my letters "Triangle R" cause he didn't understand. LOL Oh, and sometimes he asks me "how are things going at Lambda, Lambda, Lambda?" (Think Revenge of the Nerds!) I love my Dad's sense of humor! :p Surprisingly, my Dad was more supportive of my decision than my Mom was. Maybe because I am his little girl (I have two older sisters, I'm the baby). But at any rate, yay for Dads and Rush!! LOL |
I hope your has a wonderful recruitment!!! Good luck to her.
