- To be considered pretty and popular by the cute popular guys.

- To prove wrong the people from high school who thought you would be a dork forever.

- Simply to wear Greek letters.

- For the resume. This applies to some GLOs more than others.

Because you were the nerdy, dorky, ugly duckling band geek in high school who was picked on by the popular kids and who had a huge crush on the captain of the football team or on the head cheerleader but was never noticed

And so you want to join a sorority or fraternity because you think it's going to make you cool and you're going to be "Miss Popularity" or "Big Man On Campus"
