One of my alltime favorite Greekchat posts is from a "former DZ" who explained to anyone who read it how our entire Ritual was based on the Tales of the Arabian Nights. :D

You have a link to that, if it's still around. It would be funny to read I think.

Dang. There goes my whole perception of DZ. I thought you were the Daughters of Zeus.

It seems like word of secrets (especially handshakes) gets around pretty easily. I personally know the handshakes of two other Panhellenic sororities -- a couple of my friends in fraternities showed me (without me asking, unfortunately). And yes, I know they're real, because I could tell by the girls' faces when the fraternity guy did it to them. I'm sure girls know the ADPi one too. However, I don't go around bragging that I know XYZ's secrets.. I know how important ritual is and I have more respect for them than that.

Anyway, I don't think it's a huge deal, because even if you do know the secrets, you can never know the bond that the initiated members have.

Thanks to the power of the internet (and some very loose lips and itchy keyboard fingers), alleged Greek "secrets" are available all over the web, only a "google's length" away. Never mind the fact that any such "information" by default is, at best, suspect.

This was said earlier: with the numbers of people who have come through all of our organizations, good and bad, it's no surprise that a lot of supposed "information" has surfaced on public sites. And as a result, you have perps coming out of the woodwork.

Speaking for myself, I don't dignify such inquiries with an answer. Who cares if someone thinks they know my handsign, handshake, or even my "call". They don't know the meaning behind those things. And a quick "quiz-up" has a way of weeding out the perps who dare to come close.... :D

Brothers and Sisters, we're talking about external trappings here. No matter what some people think they know, the bottom line is this:

They know NOTHING.

And that's my $19.19 on the matter....

GLO Secrecy:

My Mother, briefly, dated a SAE. She somehow "knows" part, and only part, of our hand shake.

Me, I still consider my oath binding.

It goes like this.............:D
