It's been out for awhile and I saw it in WalMart awhile ago so if theres a Walmart in whatever trashy hole in the wall city y'all live in you should have seen it. Plus its caused a bunch of controversy bc some groups are saying Coke is blantantly targeting the African-American community with their advertising community.

And can you explain to me how 2+2=4, because I don't quite get that either.

Wow, obviously someone can't stomach the shit they dish out.

I'd hardly call Charlotte, NC a hole in the wall, but we're not real big on the Walmarts down here. I believe there's 2 in the entire city. And I'm not sure why targeting a specific ethnic population would be controversial. It's certainly not a new idea. You don't see Hawaiian Tropic targeting Hispanics or African Americans, are the white people outraged at being targeted??

So who cares if they are? If the African-American population is their target market, what's wrong with that?

Drolefille 06-08-2006 09:43 AM

Ditto.

Coke just wants to sell products. Perhaps black people tend to drink Pepsi so Coke's trying to expand their market. Regardless everyone's been blatently targeting their markets for a while now and its silly to get upset if your group is being targeted. Even sillier to get upset on behalf of someone elses group.

Its advertising, not a missile.

Huh? Well then, what about White House/Black Market?

PhiMuAmberkins 06-08-2006 11:15 AM

People who get offended by the name of a SODA have way too much time on their hands. They'd probably get offended if it was Coca-Cola WHITE too. That's one of the reasons we still have racism...people focus too much on it. It's SODA...a BEVERAGE...you DRINK it. Shouldn't we focus more on cutting down on crime, violence, hate crimes, poverty, and drug use than bitching about a soda. Seriously...

SATX*APhi 06-08-2006 11:32 AM

This sounds just plain nasty!

Drolefille 06-08-2006 12:32 PM

Somehow i think it was Coke Blak because of the coffee and not because some executive thought "gee if we call it black, black people will drink it! BRILLIANT!"

Wait aren't you from NY? You gota have it! Maybe they only sell it in Brooklyn, because it's made in Brooklyn I think. I haven't tried looking for it elsewhere. Whenever I go to NY, that's the first thing I'm craving.

tunatartare 06-08-2006 02:38 PM

It may be a Brooklyn thing, I dunno. I've never heard of it.

Optimist Prime 06-13-2006 11:31 AM

why can you only get a Manhattan Special in Brooklyn?

also, what is it? It sounds like something you would pay for in the back room of a laundry mat in china town, and then some funky soul music from the 70's comes on as you leave with it in a plain brown paper bag. Not plain. It should be one used by local grocer, with their trade mark or whatever on it. Yeah.

tunatartare 06-13-2006 11:33 AM

I think it's a small thing with only a few distributors. I asked people about it, and no one I know has heard of it.

docetboy 06-13-2006 11:34 AM

I think you're just imagining it.

wrigley 06-13-2006 02:33 PM

The local grocer had Coca-Cola Blak stacked near the checkout aisles. Just the packaging alone turned me off from wanting to try it.
